I simply analyze ancient history objectively
Do you honestly think you are being objective here?
Honestly?
disproving the date 1914 as a significant year in bible prophecy is of great importance to some (e.g.
carl o. jonsson).
along with the meticulous details of bible and secular chronology, broadening one's horizons when assessing exactly what this date represents when compared against the 6000 years of human history likewise has merit.

note: the following is not meant to be construed as a recommendation but to demonstrate the sharp contrast between any authentic bible translation and the new world translation.
for those of us who participate and or read the threads on this board, i understand and appreciate that all here have different views on religion, the existence of god, and of the catholic church.
i believe each individuals convictions should be treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
Very enjoyable topic.
Thank-you!

So, the WT's interpretation is that, since Babylon ruled everything BUT Jerusalem, it wasn't technically a world power????
Brilliant!!
Brain-washing complete.
so this weekend my wife had a major grand mal seizure for the first time in her life.
she was rushed to the er.
a few hours later while i was at her side she had another major one.. it was the scariest moment in my life.
I'm very surprised that a doctor would tell you that you are the cause of your wife's seizures. That absolutely could not be true.
Either way, I wish you the best, Daniel.

condemn the adulterers too.
may 21, 2010. from jill carroll, houston religion expert and author.
this weeks' news brought us the story of a catholic elementary school rescinding the acceptance of a child because his parents are lesbians.
Poopsie:
Clearly, someone who has never been in a congregation. I've never seen as many scandals surrounding marriage and fidelity since leaving the witnesses as I did as one of them. And that's a fact.
That was my experience, too.
I would just like to add that, although I once was an adulteress, ( what an archaic word that doesn't even come close to describing the mental distress I was in from being in an abusive relationship ) I was and am not, a practicer of adultery.
However, Spade (posting previously as Alice) revelled in throwing it in my face. I think the difference between the JW view of adultery and the Christian view of it...........
...........is forgiveness.

Alice:
If and when secular history conficts with the complete and harmonious Biblical chronology,....I don't accept it.
What you mean is: When secular history conflicts with the WT's interpretation of Bible chronology, you don't accept it.
And their interpretation is dictated by their own agenda. They are the ones who stand to lose face ( and people and money ) if their choosing of 607 is wrong.
Secular historians are more than willing to change thier views when new evidence is discovered and presented. The WTS, however, MUST stick with 607, in spite of all evidence to the contrary.

Alice always changes the subject when she knows she's full of S**T.
We're discussing "Objectivism" now, are we, Alice?

i've just started reading "year of doom, 1975: the inside story of jehovah's witnesses" by english author j.c. stevenson.
it was published in 1967 as basically a memoir of his years in the dubs, including time as a pioneer, and an explanation of the methods used by them to make the organisation grow.. it's not the best "insider" book i've written, but there is a section i've uploaded below that makes some interesting points about the home bible study procedure and why it is so effective at turning interested people into baptism candidates.
reading through this, i see myself back in the mid-80s sitting there getting led, week by week, into the trap.. this section is from chapter 2, "the seed is watered" in which he explains the typical process following a few return visits.. .
dgp,
I read all your posts, but his one almost made me cry.
In my case, I loved the person in question. To bits.
I suddenly realized how all my ``Bible sudents`` felt after I abandoned them.........Thank you for that insight.
