a very special request for help - not money - just information!!!.

i normally would not ask this kind of a favor, but this really is important.. i am working with portland area investigators and journalists who are doing research on the whitney heichel /jonathan holt murder case and one other case involving other serious criminal activity.

i have seen debates and shizzle about god or not god etc etc.. i was even confronted by an aggressive and trheatening muslim in the street, who was angry that i wanted proof that god existed.

he ranted on a load of old b0110cks about 'hell' and stuff.

finally he yelled at me: 'do you want god to write your name in the sky?

Anyone else like to sew??? What kind of Machine do you use???

i'm ready to get my sewing machines out of hiding, and will be sewing once again this winter.

i'd like to start quilting again, as it is fun to do, eases stress, and is healthier than just sitting in front of the tv.

i have even designed a few items of clothing in the past that i have sold, although i am by no means another madeleine vionet or issey miyake-lol.. i've always liked sewing machines even as a child (much to the dismay of my parents-lol), and there are a couple favorites that i have had for many years.

This is going to be a DUMB question - and I haven't read the whole thread, sorry - but...

Do you have your machines cleaned and oiled after they've been in storage for a while, or do you do this yourself?

I ask, because I have home sewing machines AND industrials - the industrials need to be oiled and maintained regularly, and regular maintenance doesn't hurt home sewing machines, either...

Never use that blasted "3-in-1" oil on sewing machines - it tends to become a gooey, sticky brown substance later on that can really muck up your machines. I don't think sewing and fabric stores even sell the gunk anymore; but if they do - avoid it and get oil made specifically for sewing machines.

Also, check your motor belts - and NEVER over-oil the electric motor!! Over-oiling it can cause it to seize up right in the middle of a project...
