Yeah I noticed the arm link too, its funny how when a public figure can be giving a speech, we hear "blah blah blah blah blah" but notice all the small and off camera things! Must have been all that training of sitting through circuit and district ASSemblies!!

Hi DF, thanks for the heads up, make sure he looks at the South Korean situation. It makes me feel sick looking back when I toured the South Korean Bethel and saw a photographic wall tribute to all the young brothers who have died in Jail from serving prison sentances for refusing military service which is compulsory.
They died in prison as a result of rapes and beatings for their stance. My understanding now is that they are allowed to perform alternate service, something the local Korean brothers have been requesting for a number of years, which would have prevented those deaths.
Yet, how the society places on a pedastel the deaths of these young men for which they share bloodguilt...

All the others were forthcoming in affection except for her, hmmmmmmm

Need help locating WT quotes aginst private research etc...
by Aussie Oz ini have spent a bit of time in the wt cd and forum search looking for passages where the wt soc discourages personal research as i have seen a number of references to this on the forum.. i find lots of pro research using the soc publications naturally.
encouraging the r&f to use all the publications etc.... perhaps i am just not using the right search words.
where can i find writings against one spending time with encyclopeadias, the internet and reading the bible alone etc.

POOR ME! Would some crybabies feel sorry for themselves no matter what?
by Quillsky ini get a sense, especially from "sob story" threads, that some people would cry about their situations, whatever they were.
wherever in the world.

Hi Quilsky, prob a little bit unfair... I think we are all cynical enough to see through sob stories that are not genuine. though, particuarly on this board, for someone to open up and reveal all it takes guts. I know that despite being on this board for well over a year, I have not really opened up and told my whole sob story! Yet when I do, I hope that those reading wil not think I am an attention seeker and faking it but rather have reached a stage where I am comfortable in sharing with my "cyber friends" something in the past which affected me....
Having said that, when I was a lurker and read all the old posts to catch up on 6 years of not knowing JWD existed, I did recognise a few posts of heart wrenching stories that just did not add up. I think all those years of being indoctrinated with made up experiences in wt magazines and public talks made for that cynicism.
At the end of the day, if you have a situation worth crying about, then cry if it helps you deal with it and move on. And yes Im a crybaby only because im a softie!
