there are several persistent misconceptions that have been repeated almost to the point where they've become common knowledge in xjw circles.

i don't know how this happens or why, but if you're going to discuss doctrine with a jw, i think it is important to understand what they believe, when they believed it and why.. i hope nobody thinks i'm being a pain in the neck for pointing these out because that's not my intent.

all the jw's i know will reject your entire line of thought if you commit even one tiny technical error regardless of whether this affects your conclusion or not.. with that in mind, here are three:.

Standing Room Only at Tulsa District Convention

my parents were to attend the dc in tulsa, when they arrived, there was no parking and no seats available.

is this because there are more people in the area or fewer locations and times?.

any ideas?.

I havent spoken to my parents since the weekend. But they are in their 70's and probably didnt wan't to walk the 4+ blocks to the convention center. I remember when I was probably 7 or 8 at Dodger stadium -- I saw "brothers and Sisters" running to get seats in the shady sections.... Oh how I miss the chocolate pudding and burritos :)

we had this circuit overseer who was a real piece of work.

40-ish mts grad, i believe.

Jehovah's Witnesses = Imperfect Organization. I have no problem with the organization being run by imperfect men. I expect the pettiness and political posturing I see in any other organization. But I was always told that you would know Jesus' Disciples because they would have "love among themselves". This is not a distinguishing factor here. I have seen the exact same “love” displayed in many churches and religious groups.

"The Truth" = Flawed Reasoning. It is no longer the truth because the truth should be based upon righteous principles that stand the test of time. The Witnesses no longer have the truth – I doubt there ever had it. If they change the tomorrow, what you have today is not “The Truth”.

Can a Brother wear a Bolo Tie and give a Talk at the KH?

a bolo tie is a western look.

i remember seeing brothers wear western cut sports coats...wear cowboy booths...would a bolo tie be ok today?

Been to a lot halls in the Phoenix area, some of them would allow bolo ties and cowboy boots and others would not. Some elders were almost militant in their need to "counsel" ones wearing cowboy boots. I remember one elder grabing a small child (who was wearing some sneakers -- the dog ate his dress shoes) and taking his father into the back room. The father left with his son to go immediately buy appropriate dress shoes. All that crap is about appearance.. just like any good sales organization... barf!

isn't iomega resurrection exactly the same as watchtower resurrection?.

can the originals expect to experience what the re-created copies experience?.

All joking aside (on my part) -- this got me to thinking... If we are only just "electrochemical goo" -- any resurrection would only be a copy -- our original "thoughts and self" would be gone. Now, on the otherhand, if there was "something more" to us (like some quantum entanglement or ??) -- all bets are off...
