my wife and i have been trying to put a finger on our personal motivations.
what drives us to do what we do?.
it comes down to this basic fact: we are afraid.
Thank you Jamie!

It comes down to this basic fact: We are afraid. Afraid of what? Well, we are afraid of missing opportunities (If we don’t do it, someone else will and they will be successful), we are afraid of companies or people to whom we are financially indebted to and the collection agencies they would use against us. We are afraid of damaging our credit rating. We are afraid of upsetting our family or friends – they may abandon us or worse – tell others not to talk to us.
I feel that this core fear has been pressed into our souls by being members of a fear controlled group. We have not been to meetings in over 10 years, yet its affects linger on and on…
It’s time to live for desire and not fear. It’s going to be a hard battle, but I wanted to put it down in writing as a note to myself and maybe start a helpful discussion.
Cheers!
how did it turn out?.
I was in several as an early teenager as the "defendant"... I was always guilty -- privately reproved...
As an adult I avoided anything that would get me into trouble...
cheers
Not to be morbid, but I was half expecting it.... Unfortunate loss, she had a great voice and a unique style (which I didn't really care for). She did have talent and could have been so much more if she wasnt so self destructive.
RIP.
i'm living in that zone in the usa which is going thru a super bad heat wave...it's been 100-109 f, with a higher heat index and high humidity for more than a week now.
i don't have ac and can't get one - i live in a baseemnt apartment with 2 windows, both of which are too small to fit a the smallest unit i've seen.
i have fans, but it's not enough.
I know a lot of people during the summer hear here in Arizona spend the entire day walking around an indoor mall. It's free, you get some excercise and it fun to watch the people.
Drink lots of water!
i'm having trouble getting behind the idea of making rich people pay more taxes just because they have more.. aside from the obvious: "i'm not rich so lets tax them instead of me.
" the three reasons i hear most often are:.
1: they may have "earned" their wealth but they don't deserve it!.
Would any consumption based tax like VAT that is significant enough to offset income tax cause a drop in American Spending? Whoud would the outcome be of reduced consumerism to american business?
cheers

Taxing a corporation is in effect double taxation right?
I guess it all comes down to what you feel is better for "society" a: letting the government have the money (taxes) or b: letting corporations invest it...
Another point I wonder about is: As business becomes more efficient (being able to do more with less human labor), does it no longer benefit "the little guy" (the employees) as much?
It seems that corporations are able to generate pretty good revenue this past couple years, but that hasnt translated into more jobs... why? One reason may be that business is more effificient.
Beks: Now all towns look largely similar with "corporate food" establishments in every city greater than 15K people (think village inn, olive garden, red lobster, chipotle etc.). Unfortunately some business cannot effectively work at smaller scales (think Pharma).
cheers :)

Robdar.. thanks for the clarification :) Drinking and typing just dont mix --- I should know
It got me thinking about money. I dont think money ever sits anyplace for very long the wealthy dont just bury their money in the back yard. They place it in banks and investment funds where it get's either lent out or is reinvested into other businesses. I think the only exception to this rule may be when the wealthy buy gold or some rare asset. But then again, that money goes to another person to do work for them.
just rambling..
