I think my faith might be returning. Feeling very confused.
by jambon1 ini've been out the organisation for around 8 years.
when i first left, im positive that i suffered from some sort of post traumatic stress.
i was very angry at myself for accepting the really bad parts of the religion that i strongly disagreed with.

A personal relationship with reality is preferable.
First sort out what is factual. If you think the bible makes sense you have never really studied the bible objectively.
If you think complexity is evidence for a designer you have a lot of work still to do to understand evolution.
If you can enjoy a sense of the "other" that aligns with known facts then good luck to you.
well great Cofty, you have just said anyone who does not see things your way is stupid. Why must people who no longer believe in a Creator try & remove hope from those who want it? What is the point?
The Beatles had a song and a line in it was " what ever gets you through the night is alright..". If you are happy with your belief system , then that is great. Why be the Grinch who stole Christmas? Most of us who have been out for a while know enough to not get fooled again. I will never blindly follow anyone , religion or not. Some of us still believe there is something bigger than ourselves. I know I do. In fact, I never stopped believing in God, I was just filled with disgust and loathing for jws and similar religions. I have recovered from some of this and find I want the Creator in my life in some form, even if is just volunteering to help others. In fact it was reading the Bible , (the nwt at the time) but without the help of the wts literature is what helped me see they did not have the truth. I highly recommend reading the Bible itself .

There is nothing wrong with you. I believe there is a Creator and my faith has been returning for some time. also. This time it is not blind faith and I won't be a sheeple. I felt more peace when I had an active faith. I have looked at a number of churches and the criteria I have is
not legalistic- no crazy rules that force you to choose them over your family or the rest of the world.
does not excommunicate
has youth and other groups -
active in the community with charitable works, real ones
does not believe they are the only true religion and everyone else will die-
I have been told that Methodist's are Christian lite and also like the feel of the Episcopalian churches. They seem open minded. I am choosing to stay with a Christian religion b/c it is where I feel comfortable. I have looked at a number of other belief systems and I think they are fine if they cause no harm but not for me.

Crazy JW urban legend
by Simon ina sure guarantee that this was bogus (really, any reasoning is required at all?
) was that it did the rounds applied to john denver, annie lennox and others.. basically, they relied on satan (oh yes) for their musical ability (i knew it) and any jws in the audience would be asked to leave because ... (drum roll) ... they blocked the signal to satan so couldn't perform with them present!.
anyone else remember that gem?.

What I saw on TV had more to do with Carson insulting Denver by asking him to leave and the jws are just a side issue. I do not know if Denver actually said that at a concert but would not be at all surprised. I do know one person ( not jws) whose friends were there and they swear it happened. This is sort of Carson removing the evidence to protect his and Denver reputation or lawsuits. The episode is gone or the part about Denver has been edited out. When someone first told me this I was appalled-- it was on TV, how could they do that? This was long ago and they could do that. They made it go away.
The world I lived in here in the Bible belt was not as litigious as where you lived Botr. Jws seldom sued for slights over their beliefs , it was all in the name of persecution. Ultimately it was Denver's concert and if he wants someone removed , he can have it done.

BOTR
it was not jws that were the important persons here, It was John Denver on a national TV show that most of America watched and Carson asked Denver about this incident and asked him to leave over it. It was really a big deal at that time for Carson to ask someone to leave the stage. So you see, It is not so much at jws, but about Carson and Denver.
I am not defending jws nor do I believe in conspiracy theories but I do know what I saw on National TV. Jws have done and said enough stupid things to pick on but this one has some truth to it b/c some of it aired on National TV. The idea that someone as powerful as Carson could not have something removed it naive.

Is it true? John Denver asks any Witnesses to leave his concert!
by Witness 007 inversion 1. john denver at his concert asks "if there are any jehovah's witnesses in the audience can you please leave.".
version 2. on the johnny carson show he said the same before singing a patriotic song.
johnny carson told denver "see that cameraman there..and that lighting guy...there jehovahs witnesses, alot of witnesses work for me because their honest people..so now you can leave.".

laugh all you want but a lot of folks saw that national TV show on which Carson asks Denver to leave due to this incident. The person who told me their friends were at the concert and were humiliated-- is not jws. This is easy, Carson made this go away. There are a bunch of us ( I guess most of us are geriatric now) who saw that show. I know what I saw. This is pointless b/c as far as the Carson show , I watched it and know what I saw. I was not at the concert, so can only tell you what I was told and what I heard on the Carson show that night.

I do not recall Blondie. I watched Carson most nights-- I just recall Denver was to be a quest. I tuned in as did a large amount of America to watch the show. That is it. It has been too long to give a date. I knew nothing about the concert incident before I heard it on the Carson show . I was quite surprised and the next day asked a few jws who all said it was true. Now I do not doubt the grandiosity thinking of jws but I know what i saw on TV.

I did not go to the concert, I saw the Johnny Carson show . Denver came on and Carson asked him about the concert incident and he admitted it and Carson asked him to leave. He got up and left. That was it. The Carson folks had the tape either edited or destroyed. Surely with the way jws rewrite and get rid of older literature , surely no one is so naive to think that could not happen? Carson was a very powerful person at that time.
