i was never disfellowshipped, but it's been about 10 years since i was an active jw.

i've made an occasional meeting or half-day at an assembly here or there, strictly at the behest of family (maybe once a year), but i'm completely disconnected.

more importantly, mentally i'm 100% free.. we all have a tendency to project our views and beliefs onto others, and tending to believe that other former jws share our views is no different.

Group number 1-- but many born ins do believe it is the "truth" plus their entire family is in ( I was a 3rd + generation back in the day) and they often are never really able to remove themselves from the org. I think this group has some of the most messed up lives. It was the only religion I'd ever known and even though I did not really fit in I never blamed Jah. The org did a real number on our family and hurt our lives a lot.

Is Jesus dying really more important than his resurrection?

i was reading about khs on wikipedia and i noticed a link for the memorial of jesus' death.

why would any christian religion celebrate his death and not his resurrection.

a man dying is fairly common.

I once asked and elder to explain why the wts gave Jesus one day ( memorial) and one book ( greatest man book) ? Jesus is what the Bible is all about, his lineage and waiting for his arrival and his birth, ministry and death. Then it is about his disciples and the early church. That makes Jesus pretty important by the Bible standards , but not jws, since Jehovah is God.

elders say they stopped advising the perps to ask for forgiveness as some victims some have gone onto to sue in civil court. It then might tarnish jws org.

And blast that judge for not giving him more than 5 yrs. He's 78 and hopefully his genitals are shriveling up but that is not all that makes a person a molester. He is still capable of causing a lot of harm to trusting kids in the Congo or elsewhere.

I vividly recall the vaccination fears. The schools where I attended did not care what your religion taught- get vaccinated or I do not attend. Where it not for that my mother would have prevented it. I also recall in the 70's and again now a new group of folks who are anti vaccination. It may be true that some vaccinations have caused problems but as a whole they have been life saving.

Many jws are into seriously strange alt. medicine. I think whatever helps is good, but don't throw out the xrays and antibiotics.

He's lived his life outside of prison while his granddaughter was in her own hell. His generation indeed were taught women were just for" their "pleasure. Women had no value to him or many men in Fundy religions. May they rot in hell or whatever awaits us.

Are JW's using different terminology for "congregation discipline"?

i have been out for over 20 years now and sometimes i run into a young jws on the street and the language seems to be "greek" to me.

i have a hard time understanding what they are talking about.

when i was in(90s) they had 4 catergories for congregation discipline.

The "no longer an approved associate" was used to humiliate the non baptized person and to prove that even if they were not baptized the BOE could still wield a mighty sword against them. lots of unbaptized kids in the 70-80 had this happen to them. If you ever went out in service or any kind of activity like that they could stop the "nice" jws kids from associating with you. They finally stopped it formally but as all other of their shatty legaleze, they still informally do this. If you do not get baptized and attend meetings the good jws kids will eventually mark you.
