yes, i know the gb is putting all of their chips on 1914 but if you stop and think about it for a moment.. we are seeing jw history in the making for the next jw generation of 2114.. first they teach a date as significant.second, when it becomes obsolete, they come up with a convoluted explanation of how it really was significant, just not in the way "some believers" once taught.third, it becomes a historical footnote, as in: "bible students at one time thought... but now we see... evidently... .
the next generation of jws (100 years from today) will be talking about 2014 as the year of great expectation, and how close the end is in 2114. yes, when jesus spoke about this generation evidently he was talking in a symbolic way, and he was truly referring to the generation class.. .
Jw's aren't the only apocalyptic religion, there are many. They are all looking for Jesus to return - how he does it varies a little . Most know the book of Revelation and I hear a lot of folks quoting it. Jw's are just one of MANY end time religions . Also, even if people won't tell you to your face they think the world could end, a lot non-religious people think so too.
It seems in our literature , TV, and music we are hell bent for this world to come to an end. Think about all the movies, " Escape from New York "(one of my personal favs),, and many years ago Soylet Green ( 1973) and well, we can all name a lot of end of world movies including the current vampire and zombie end of world craze.( TV series The walking Dead)
If jws stay alive they will just keep reinventing themselves. Seriously, if Mormons,Scientology, and numerous other wacko religions can survive, why couldn't jws? It will become a lifestyle religion , much as the Mormons are.
The next time a jws tells me the Wts is still here b/c God's spirit is behind it, I plan on asking if God's spirit is backing the Catholic, Baptist and all those Eastern religions.

life is tough when you've spent your best years in the borg...how do you reconnect when kids are grown and you're close to retirement age?.
Doctor has me tapering some meds and starting some others. I slept 2 days and then could not sleep at all last night or today. This will all work out, it just takes a while to adjust to some meds. I was on one med my new doctor said I should never have been on. So he has me tapering that one. I look forward to about a month from now to be on the road to stability on my meds. I am exhausted just dizzy nearly with so many changes in meds.
I forgot who mentioned prunes, oh dear I am way beyond that. I am on Linzess and it is working very well. A lot of my issue has to do with the meds I take. A lot of them almost stop peristalsis. I highly recommend anyone with this issue to see a GI and mention this drug by name. They are doing TV commercials now about it. Do any of you recall the drug Zelnorm? well it was for IBS with constipation and was taken off the general market in 07 due to some reports of heart disease. It can still be gotten but only with approval, or so they say.

When a typical jws comes to this board now, they see aggressive atheists and a few judging come to Jesus folks ( most have left) This board has succeeded in mostly running off the spiritualist folks, tarot etc. They could not even have a thread to themselves without being Bullied, Yes I said Bullied by atheists and religious alike. Then the religious posters became a problem, most of them left.
Can't we all get along? Tolerance is what is needed.

I saw the video and read the site and honestly it just seemed childish to me. It is not appropriate to disrupt anyone's religious meetings unless laws or civil rights are being violated.

It is utter nonsense to think this board is only for atheists or only for believers. It is for those leaving or questioning teachings of jws or their family or for anyone who may have questions about jws. There has always been a lively discussion here but no ones rules this board. There are many atheists broads so they can talk among themselves, but they do not wish to, They want to challenge and hurt those who believe. There are many religious boards on the net but many just want to come and try and convert the unwilling. There is a serious lack of tolerance on this board ( leaning to the atheists side) and has been for a long time.
I came here years ago due to abuse by jws. I found a board that was lively and had all sorts of people here, atheists, religious people of all kinds, and those who enjoyed the spiritualist type religions. Eventually the tarot folks were not even allowed a thread without being ridiculed. Then the religious folks could not post without ridicule. All that was left to post that was acceptable was atheists, sex and fluff threads.
Tolerance is what is needed. I don't want to be preached to by anyone. I am glad if all can post and if I want to read that thread I will.
the governing body has everything in place so that they can start liquidating their properties owned through dummy incorporations with bylaws that give complete authority to the governing body.. i'm thinking be prepared to see many leave the organization when the shit finally hits the fan over these child molestation lawsuits hanging in the balance.
truley a time of the end if you will for an outdated religion based soley on ignorance and gulibilty.. it(watchtower corp) is basically a printing business that prints it's own stuff which gradually dupes the reader into selling their product door to door in order to please god and not be killed by god for being so bad that you could sell this product door to door.
only people who beleive what is written in the magazines will be saved was the motto and now it has been refined to; listen obey and be blessed by the corporation's deity jehovah over which they have exclusive claim being his earthly corporation and all and run by the governing body of self proclaimed holy men.. they are selling all their printing equipment and trying to raise cash from the proceeds which may be eaten away by these lawsuits so another alturnative is to start liquidating halls now gradually while proclaiming great increases and the need for more kingdom halls to be built while selling them in other parts of the country.
Perhaps they are storing up money for when the end comes? You know there are a lot of survivalists talking about storing up food , clothing and money . The WTS only wants to ensure the survival of the corporation and their jobs.

Atheists DO care what you believe and do try and convert you to their way of thinking. They try and tear down your belief system just as much as true believers . They are both radical.
