With all the current changes and downsizing, the 1914 "anchor date" appears to be drifting out to sea

Yes, I know the GB is putting all of their chips on “1914” but if you stop and think about it for a moment.

We are seeing JW history in the making for the next JW generation of 2114.

    • First they teach a date as significant.
    • Second, when it becomes obsolete, they come up with a convoluted explanation of how it really was significant, just not in the way "some believers" once taught.
    • Third, it becomes a historical footnote, as in: "Bible students at one time thought... but now we see... evidently...

The next generation of JW’s (100 years from today) will be talking about 2014 as the year of great expectation, and how close the end is in 2114. Yes, when Jesus spoke about “this generation” evidently he was talking in a symbolic way, and he was truly referring to the “generation class”.

I will end it with this quote:

“When in doubt, throw it out and join the land of the living.” Barbara Anderson

    WAKE UP JW’S!

In the words of Christ - " if a house is divided against itself, it cannot stand." (Mark 3:25)

The sooner the brothers find out that the G.B. has covered over pedophiles' crimes and is now having to fork out mi££ion$ for their complicity, the better!!

Not to mention the countless mi££ion$ the Org has lost in the Wall Street casino in 2008!!

Maybe the penny will drop as to why there is a new "donation agreement" next week!!!!!

Religious organizations outlive their respective stupidities - people don't. Sooner or later, death brings us individually to an end - a fact that has never been proved wrong by ardent convictions.Meanwhile the world and its multitudinous stupid religions spins unendingly on and on and on. Only humans end.

    "Generation Class"...oh my god, that's f**king brilliant!!!

The expression practically screams WT jargon and could permanently solve the "generation" problem once and for all.

How the hell have they not come up with this one themselves yet???

I doubt this organization will still be here in 100 years. If so, it will be at most half a million adherants.

Londo1111 - "I doubt this organization will still be here in 100 years..."

    Goes without saying.

Claims about yourself and the world around you that directly contradict ascertainable fact can only be made for so long before it just wears too thin...

Londo1111 - "...If so, it will be at most half a million adherants."

    If it's lucky.

Yeah it will go the way of the Bible Students - fade to obscurity.

They will pump up numbers to keep breathing life into the "growth" claims as long as possible, but eventually the tricks won't hide the facts.

The apathy is already present and being covered up with rampant anti-depressant/anti-anxiety meds. (at least in the States)

That is probably why they are looking to cash $$$ in so much lately - to milk the cow before it's gone.

I wonder though if there will be a spinoff again like before?

    The "reformed" JW's.

I'm not as confident to be honest. I think they will have close to the number of members they have now. World population is on a trend to grow in 3rd world countries, and this is where people are most likely to join the cult, because they are less educated, and because their quality of life is worse. Growth inside the org is already coming mostly from those countries.

I think in developed countries, numbers will slowly decrease, and financial stress will continue to rise inside the Org.

My main concern is that there might be a significant global tragedy/disaster as this would boost their numbers.
