I understand because I recommended a JW, to someone, for a job as a nanny and she stole things from her house. The woman had to ask for the stuff back. She did comply, but it was very embarrassing for me.
I believe this story you have shared here would identify you to those in your congregation. You might as well post your name and address because there probably aren't many accusing someone of stealing jam.
last friday, one of our employees' home burned to the ground, killing all 3 of his children.
i began the process of taking up a collection, buying the card, etc.
all of us were shocked to the core for this man's tragedy and suffering.
To be fair, there are many very generous JWs. I know one Bethelite that was given a brand new car from a complete stranger. Then another instance where an Elder paid for a single mother's roof on her trailer. I know of many times the JWs have come through with what they could for someone in need. It's just not done in an organized fashion and the WT organization doesn't practice the social gospel. However, many individual JWs are very generous with their time and money to those in need. Just because a trumpet isn't blown after each generous act, it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen.

the kids are very keen on having a christmas tree and some decorations.. is there any date these are supposed to go up or are we going to look really silly having it up mid november ?

I wasn't raised a JW. Most people in the US put their decorations up a week or so before Christmas and remove the them a day or so after New Years. Remember if you have a real tree it will become dry and dangerous to have in the house too long. Christmas tree fires are very real.
Some people may place lights up a little earlier but don't buy your tree too soon. Also if you talk about Christmas too much it will make your little ones too anxious, for too long. A whole week of hearing about Christmas from your children maybe a enough.
i have been up watching saturday night fever, made in the year 1977. funny thing i noticed , the club that the tony(john travolta) dances at is called 2001 odessey.
i thought god , i was 10 or 11 when that movie came out.
i wanted to see it so bad, but good jw's would never see such a movie, the disco era right.

I am thinking of starting a career in nursing in 5 yrs when my youngest son is older.
You can start now by taking one course at a time at your local community college. If you take one course at a time then double in a couple years. In five years you will have your Associates degree in Nursing and be eligible to take the state boards for a registered professional nurse. You may not need to put off all your dreams if you make little steps toward them each day.
I started studying as a teenager and wound up dropping out of college, where I studied fine arts, when I came into the troof. I did go back to college while a dub but it wasn't what I really wanted to do. I started to take art courses while I was a dub and was black balled for being spiritually weak. I will graduate with my second bachelors degree soon. (Actually I have another bachelors which I never applied for completion of the degree although I have the credits. I didn't want to have to reapply to the same college for a second degree)

i have been smoking off and on for over a year,,,,,,,never smoked before this year in my life.. it all started just for the hell of it.
then as my hub and i started going out dancing and hitting the town, cig smoke was everywhere.
i would comehome with it in my hair and all over my clothes.
Dede what did you expect? If you smoke you will become addicted just as everyone else. The one thing I did get from the org is I quit smoking and I will never light up a cigarette again. It's a prison to be addicted to a drug and I hated it because I couldn't go any where without my nicotine. You don't have to do everything that was forbidden while in the org because some things were a protection. I doubt that having the choice whether to smoke is the reason you left. Be careful out there Dede.

Andi, You should talk with several professional photographers. I do know most of them consider the digital camera to have some limits. If money is tight then I suggest that you research exactly what you need. Maybe you could begin by taking some photography courses at community college. Check out B&H photo- video equipment. they are known to have quality used equipment that they warrantee for a time. They are closed Friday after sundown and Saturdays since they are orthodox Jews. has anyone else noticed a significant drop in kingdom hall attendance?
is there something big going on inside the wt organization that outsiders may not be aware of?.
Everyone has to pick up their WT mags at the KH currently. They are no longer mailing mags to anyone.
hi all - i know i haven't posted here in a very long time and unfortunately the reason why hasn't been good.. life was good throughout the summer, travel, college, excitement.
until one day i was sitting in my first class airline seat (i'm a big-time frequent business flyer) on the way back from kansas city and i noticed a lump under my arm.
i went to the doctor and was told it was nothing and they took it out.
Zenpunk, IM me on Yahoo anytime. 'You know who' ;) had something similar happen to him a few years ago. I'm wondering if there maybe a connection with regard to the both of you traveling to the same places.

my wife recently filed for divorce after four years of marriage and there is no grounds!
in california you can't contest a divorce and it requires only one signiture to do it.

Accept that your wife has left you and that because of your faith you will be alone unless she admits to committing adultery. It's basically a waiting game to see who will crack first and admit to adultery. It's a sad but true aspect of JW culture.
