A Smurf walked out of the Kingdom Hall
by Joshnaz inwhen i was a kid, i'm guessing 5 or 6 years old.
the "smurfs are demonized" rumors started spreading around.
after a few weeks of hearing that and having to throw away all my smurf toys, i was at the kingdom hall and a sister came in with a bookbag with a big picture of a smurf on it!

I couldn't have been the source of the rumor because the rumor was already in existance when I saw the smurf. I deliberately remember looking at it to see what smurf it was but it was just a generic smurf.

When I was a kid, I'm guessing 5 or 6 years old. The "Smurfs are Demonized" rumors started spreading around. After a few weeks of hearing that and having to throw away all my smurf toys, I was at the Kingdom Hall and a sister came in with a bookbag with a big picture of a smurf on it! Right away I was pretty frightened. After the song and the prayer I asked my dad if I could go the bathroom. I walked to the back to go to the bathroom and I swear I saw a smurf push the door open and walk out. In amazement I followed it out but did not see it after that. After I came back from the bathroom I told my dad but he didn't do anything. Later I looked at the bookbag the sister had and the picture of the smurf was gone! After the meeting the sister asked my dad where her smurf bag was and I jumped into the conversation saying, "That's your bag, the smurf that was on it got up and walked out the front door!" My parents quickly took over the conversation and I didn't hear much about it after that. So what's your thoughts on this? Other than the smurf had the right idea walking out!

Funny you should mention that Billy When I was a kid I did see a smurf walking out of the kingdom hall. Brings back memories I'll have to post a thread on it.

How many congregations have you been in???
by angel eyes inor did you remain in the same one since childhood?.
-
Joshnaz
6 diffrent congregations.
I found there's alot of diffrences in the elders way of thinking depending on where you go. I was really discouraged because I was told the "TRUE RELIGION" was the same no matter what.

Why do you come to this site?
by sinis inafter all the years i have been here, i have slowly progressed to the point that the bible, god, and all the other religious stuff out there is just plain bullshit!!!
yet when i first came here and was told by some of the members that that is what i would logically come to, i did not believe them, and yet they were right.
i realize that a lot of people on this board have left, or are struggling with themselves or family to leave, yet many still believe.

When I first left the JW's I didn't know exactly why I did. I just felt in my heart that something was wrong, maybe it was the way the elders mistreted me, maybe it was the way my family would abolish other family members when they left, maybe it was cause I got beat up everyday in school for being a JW., maybe it was because no sister was interested in me because I wouldn't pioneer and instead worked to become independent and start a carrer, maybe it was because JW's kept saying the end would come and it never did, maybe it was because my parents told me I would never graduate because the end is too close, maybe it was because I was told I cannot go to colledge because how would I find the time to preach? I don't know I can't put my finger on it. Maybe the reason why I come to this site is to vent for all the frustration the JW gave me growing up.

Did You Reach Out For "Privileges"?
by minimus inas one who grew up "in the truth", i recognized that the most important goal i could ever have was "to be used" in jehovah's service (aka the organization).
when i was a kid i pioneered every summer for at least one month, sometimes more.
i was the timekeeper for the theocratic ministry school as a child.

Sounds like you know me. Thats exactly what happened to me. I was a single brother living on my own at the age of 17 working my A** off to make my rent and pay my bills. The elders stripped me of microphone duty because I could only come up with 8 hours a month to service and was sometimes late to Sunday meetings because of work. When I asked the elders for help they just said, you should go move back with your parents. Thats when I started to fade.
