When my parents' still had their farm, my dad started making some peach and apricot liquor concoction in the basement. When he showed me the bottles, this song started playing in my head.

When I was a child this was our prayer at the supper table:
"God we thank you for this food,
For rest, and home, and all things good,
For wind, and rain, and sun above,
But most of all, for those we love."
I've always liked it.

how do I stay her good friend without becoming a JW?
Ask her.
I'm with Gary on this. These are her issues, not yours.
As for her fear that you won't make it through Armageddon, you can use the statement my parents' used to assure me:
"You don't have to worry. Jehovah can see what is in my heart."

Baby name suggestions?
by JimmyPage inboy or girl names, don't know for sure which as of yet.
preferably something with apostate or rock musician connotations.
i thought of "stevie ray" as in stevie ray vaughan and as a tribute to both steven hassan and ray franz but it sounds a bit too redneck for my taste.

Aaaaww Jimmy... that's wonderful news!
I'm not sure if it was by design but, my initials are the same as my paternal grandfather's. I always liked that connection! Consider what the initals spell. Kids can be cruel with each other sometimes.
(Never understood Frank Zappa's choices Anybody know his reasons?).
I used to think up baby names when I was younger. I always liked:
Boy: Jake Steel Girl: Sarah Alyssa

Why should I believe the Bible?
by wobble ini don't ask for myself, but my son said last night that he sees no reason to take any notice of a book written by men over many centuries.. could the believers on here give me some ammunition to shoot across his bows to at least get him to consider the bible's merits?.
i am familiar with the arguments against he bible, and my son is familiar with the wt defense of the bible and is not convinced.. thanks in advance,.
love.

I'm not sure you should, at least, not 100%. See the September 8, 1957 Awake! Magazine article entitled 50,000 Errors In The Bible? at:
1st page: http://www.jamaat.net/bible/AwakeArticle(1957).html
2nd page: http://www.jamaat.net/bible/AwakeArticle(1957)b.html
Can anyone verify that this is an authentic article? If so, it is quite damaging and could be very helpful when discussing any topic with a JW since they assume the Bible is not in error.
This article evokes questions in me such as:
Can the WTS produce the entire list of errors and if so, can I get a copy? If not, why not? They are claiming errors have been resolved by modern scholars so they must know what errors were fixed in order to be able to make this claim in the first place.
Can they produce the list of resolved errors and if so, can I get a copy of this one as well? If not, why not?
My expectation is that no JW has ever seen this article. And... I expect, they would NOT be able to produce the lists.

Welcome mraimondi! High Five, Man! Glad to hear you're NOT a witness. Me neither but I have some family that are including my dad and on and off my mom had us 'study' when we were kids . What classification is that.... Fringe non-JW?
Soooo... I'm gonna throw a guess out. You're not a witness but.... someone, possibly very close, is pressuring you to join. OR
A friend of yours is a JW and has decided to burn his kids' Smurf kiddie pool because it has 'demons' on it?
Funny story... my mom, who studied and got baptized years later, gave me a Poppa Smurf when I was a kid. I still have it! Not sure if the Smurf pool story is true but it wouldn't surprise me.
