  anna marie "patty" duke (december 14, 1946 – march 29, 2016) she won an academy award for best supporting actress at 16 for her role in"the miracle worker," starred in the sitcom "the patty duke show," etc.

  she wasdiagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1982 after which she had devoted much of hertime to educating the public on mental health issues such as with twobooks--"call me anna" and "brilliant madness: living with manic depressive ill-ness.

  As we age, more and more of the people we identify with and we 'know' pass away. Not one of the nicer sides of getting older. And yes, tal, I agree with your statement about Patty being a big deal, helping to put a public, well known face on bi-polar disease. RIP Ms Duke.

  I do not understand why anyone would want to worship an entity that did this. It boggles my mind.

  the wife and i went to the memorial strictly out of respect for my mother-in-law last night.

  luckily our 20 month-old grand-baby was restless and making noise, so i quickly volunteered to take him in the back.

  so i didn't have to listen to the presentation.

  Everyone in my family born on or before 1914 is dead. The only relative I have alive now that was born in the 1920's is my Dad and he's failing.

  Eventually, the Borg will have to drop the whole 1914/over-flapping generation crap because it just isn't going to fly any longer. It will be interesting to see if they come up with some new piece of garbage they want their members to swallow.

  just for the mere fact that i wasn't anger and bitter and ready to declare the gb the sociopathic criminals that so many here ascribe to, my initial question digressed to bickering over ad hominem attacks against the gb and not my beliefs that i'm questioning.

  some did give me some help on my questions.
