not all JW's are asleep
by Damascus ini am an 'active' jw but i do not agree with most of the doctrines inc blood, baptism, the memorial etc etc.i took the emblems at the memorial because i think we all should recognise and accept jesus' command to remember him.
not for one minute do i think this is only for the so called anointed.
i know it is full of man made error and that my fellow brothers and sisters are in a state of mindless, spiritual unawareness.

Damascus, it is good that you've seen through the lies within the JW religion. Now you can start working on the lies in the Bible. Conduct a comparative analysis of the 4 Gospels and get back to us about exactly what it is you can actually know about Jesus. -

Hey Damascus, you said: I think we all should recognise and accept Jesus' command to remember him.
You do realize that if you had been born in the Middle East you'd probably be saying the same thing about Mohammed or Vishnu or some other non-Christian god, right?
Damascus said: I believe in Jesus' message to tell others of his kingdom which is coming.
No, it is not. Islam is the religion that is growing, not Christianity. Better practice up on your Arabic.

Last night's talk re sisters wearing head covering, puke making!
by purrpurr indear sisters,.
when you are fortunate enough to be in the presence of a jw penis you must take care to show the proper respect for it!
doesn't matter if said penis is prepubescent!

Misogyny was one of the reasons I knew, as a teenage girl, that I could never be a JW. -

The two elders threaten my sister again
by opusdei1972 inas i reported here in this forum, some time ago, my sister was constantly harried by two elders so as to be submitted to a judiciary committee for apostasy.
these two elders were constantly hounding her in the street when she walks to go to her job.
so she had to send them a notary letter in which she wrote that she would attend the judiciary committee only with her attorney.

opusdei said: This young sister has said to the elders that she will remain in the organization due to her family, but she does not want to preach in the street.
This isn't going to fly at all. If she doesn't witness, she's not a JW.

I agree with Hecce. She should speak with her lawyer and the police. If she wants to write a letter, have her lawyer do it. That way it's on file and if they continue, a case for harassment and possibly stalking can be pursued. -

Here's a novel thought. Since Botchtower says they're a charity, why don't they actually setup and run something charitable?
It may solve all these issues for them.

Twilight and other banned media
by purrpurr inthanks to online media of movies and books i've recently been watching the twilight series.
issues of quality aside i enjoyed it enough.
i mostly wanted to see what the fuss was about and have the fun of seeing a movie that was banned from the platform when it came out.

Hey Wolfie, back when Harry Potter came out my Dad was getting a little concerned about his adult children going to these movies. I was around 38 years old when the first one came out.
I looked at him and said "Dad, it's a movie. It isn't real."
He seemed to relax a bit after that.

Health, fitness and recovery advice
by SecretSlaveClass ini hope this is okay with you simon, but since i've noticed the number of forum members looking to discuss or seek advice on various health issues i thought it would be a good idea to start a thread dedicated to this topic alone.
any discussions or advice on these matters could be put here where any and all would be welcome to jump in with any help they could offer.
i am working on the first questions at the moment taken from the cognac/morpheus weight loss thread.

I can't take it anymore!
by BlackWolf inmy dad was recently made an elder about maybe 6 months ago, and now he is never around he's always at work or doing some kind of jw crap.
now he conducts the watchtower study and is even doing the special talk tommorow.
he's become an even more strict controlling jerk than he was before, and i'm never allowed to go out and do anything non jw related because he doesn't have the time.

Black Wolf said: I think the hardest thing is knowing that when i leave they are going to shun me and I'm going to have to deal with that if I want to be free. That hurts the most.
If you work it right, you can still have a relationship with your parents once you are an adult. They may not shun you. But never get baptized.
When your folks start really aging, they are going to need your help. Stay supportive but firm.

Hey SSC... thank you. Yes, pls, I'd love a list of easy exercises. While I don't watch much (really, any) TV, I'd still like them as I might be able to do these while I'm working.
My schedule is so all over the map it's not funny. My job is pretty stressful and time consuming. I find if I get my exercise routine stopped I don't get back to it. Sometimes I have stressful situations for months at a time at work. Other times I am not very busy at all. I don't have a regular schedule where 30 minutes of free time is available to me consistently to do some fun kind of exercises - you know the enjoyable things like you mentioned and of course, horseback riding which is really more like a 4 hour minimum thing.
I have not picked up my mail for over a week now. It's sitting at the end of the street in the SuperBox. I will try to run down after work today to grab it as long as something doesn't blow up at work. Last week, my recycle and compost bins did not make it out to the curb. And man, that compost is stinky now!
Most of my 'exercise' is doing necessary day to day chores. This weekend I was at my Dad's and hauled a bunch of boxes from his basement to his bedroom upstairs. I definitely sweated doing that. I shoveled snow this morning for 30 minutes. Looks like we'll be doing that for most of this week here as well.
I have 2, 5, and 10 lbs hand weights. Can they be useful in those exercises you mentioned?
