  People hate God?

  it is a pain that certain individuals pride themselves on hating god, who created everything.

  like it's understandable that you choose to not believe in him because of your selfishness or thinking skills but to hate him is forcing it a bit.

  i'm very thankful that those such as myself have the courage to believe in the lord.

  I need help, I'm falling in love with a JW girl

  so i met her at my last job that i worked & we started off as friends.

  i didn't know her faith at the time & i honestly couldn't have cared less, seeing as i'm agnostic.

  after about a year, i began developing emotions for her & sure enough, we ended up dating for a little while.

  Do you know what it means to be a JW? Do your research. Because that's what you're going to have to be in order to have this girl. If she says no you don't have to be, then be prepared to be hounded your entire life by her as well as others to join.
  

  No blood transfusions if your child is born a blue baby, or your wife is bleeding out in childbirth or any of you are in a bad car accident and need blood or you develop some condition that requires blood products.
  

  No Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Birthdays, Cinqo de Mayo, etc, etc.

  Spending most of your free time attending conventions, assemblies, meetings, and going door to door in field serve-us. They are discouraging 'the sisters' not to marry unless the men are a Ministerial Servant or an Elder so be prepared to reach for these 'privileges' (aka work more for them for free).

  Shunning disfellowshipped JWs including family and not having much to do with non-JW family.

  Unquestioning loyalty to an organization with a flawed set of doctrines.

  Have you researched the origins of the Bible? That might also be a wise idea.

  i just received this news from a bro who has connections in bethel.... .

  bro albert d schroeder died at 10:30 am new york time today at brooklyn bethel...he was 94 yrs old.. he was born on april 7, 1911 in saginaw, michigan and entered bethel service in 1932. he was appointed a member of the governing body on december 18, 1974. bro schroeder's life story appeared in the march 1, '88 wt pages 10-17: entitled: "my life in jehovah's spirit-directed organization.".

  i don't know if the "today" means it was actually today...as i can't be sure when my friend received this news... but anyway, another of the old guys bites the dust.. .

  My former team lead worked with a guy who was a JW back then. This JW sold his house and quit his job in 1975 anticipating the coming of Armageddon. So there are those who were not JWs that knew JWs at that time and watched the JW craziness from the sidelines. Guess that guy had to find a new house and a new job.

  Got my JC cancelled... (at least for now)

  so my wife and i have been in the process of fading for a few months now as per my original post here.

  about a week ago, i was browsing some ex-jw facebook groups when i saw a post that linked to the crisis of conscience book.

  i said "f@(k it" and hit share on it.. a few hours later, i get a long text letter from my mom (who was a fb friend of mine) telling me the typical "good luck finding friends in the world" and how we have "nothing in common anymore"; basically, it was a 'farewell' text.

  i didn't know this but there is a way to calculate the minimum population required for a certain species to survive over the next 100 to 1000 years.

  this is called the "minimum viable population".. genesis states that 2 (or 7) of each "kind" went into the ark.

  supposing that each "kind" means each "species", and they all could fit in the ark, and they came out safely, most of the species would have died, because it is impossible to survive, long-term, with a starting population of 2.this is interesting:"an mvp of 500 to 1,000 has often been given as an average for terrestrial vertebrates when inbreeding or genetic variability is ignored.

  I ask because you seem to have extra knowledge of the flood event that isn't part of the story. No where does it state the creatures taken onto the ark 'survived' or dwelled outside of the ark during the flood.
  

  Also, there are actually millions of species of insects. Earthworms would not have survived outside of the ark as they dwell in soil but cannot dwell in it when it is saturated.
