in view of mother's day the,the hypocritical society of the wbts says it's wrong to give honor to.

mother's and thier lame reasons.my question is than why do they clap when a talk is give at a. kh.,s.a.d.

district conventions,because when you look at the history and background of clapping.. you will see the orgin of this pagan practise.example,clapping during roman gladiator fight.can.

bobld... when my Mom was alive, I always called her on Mother's Day but never said the words "Happy Mother's Day" to her. But she knew why I was calling. Luckily, I wasn't a JW. Did she like my calling her? You friggin' betcha she did!!

The WTS stance on not exhaulting or honouring someone is certainly hypocritical, especially since they have a hierarchy and the fact that they exhault the FDS. I am with you totally on the 'clapping' activity. There should be NO clapping whatsoever if they are to follow their belief. I never understood their logic on many topics, this one included. In my opinion, weddings are exhaulting/honouring the couple getting married so why do they celebrate these? And about those pagan wedding rings....

it had me almost choking on my cup of tea!.

steve's nephew, tommy, telephoned a black caterer and pretended to be a kkk member who wanted her to cater a klan meeting!.

LouBelle... thanks for the heads up on celebrity look alike photo scan at myheritage.com. I had fun doing mine! It came out with Maria Bello and Jennifer Connelly. People have also compared me to Kelly McGillis, Jan Smithers (and the others I mentioned previously Katherine Heigl and Betty Cooper from the Archie comics). I know I tend to look a bit different depending on my hairstyle.

Kentucky Derby

did any of you watch the kentucky derby yesterday?.

yesterday i watched the kentucky derby, i am not a horse racing fan, although i do enjoy going to the races.

we have a nice track here about an hours drive from me.. but all the hype about it being the best sporting event, me being an indy race fan, thinking that is the greatest sporting event!!!!

I remember watching Secretariat back in the '70s (his races are also on YouTube). What a stride! Still waiting for a horse to come close to him. Lots of comparisons between Man O' War and "Big Red" (same nickname as Man O' War). Theory is that these superhorses have much larger hearts than a regular race horse and that's how they can power through anything! Ron Turcotte (Secretariat's jockey) said “Secretariat, he had it all. He was everything.”

Can Mine That Bird win the Triple Crown? That would be cool! We'll be watching.

they buzzed my flat,saying they were interested in talking to people who were concerned about the ecomonic/financial situation or environmental situation.. they showed/gave me what does the bible really teach.. they aske me when did i last see a jw,i said about a year ago,to which he said he was surprised.

I thought about the scientific discoveries they discount, like the age of the earth, certain medical procedures, evolution of life, and so on...

ziddina ... soooo true! They make wild jumps in their articles that have no connection and absolutely no basis in fact or even Scriptural reasoning. Many a time I have been left with the thought of "I don't agree" or "I don't get that from this". I was not aware that they plagiarized articles from other magazines. I'm shakin' my head. It doesn't surprise me that they change these somewhat as they risk legal action copying it word for word.

badboy... Sounds like you lucked out! You aren't disappointed, are you? Or perhaps you were looking forward to some interesting (?) debate(s). I, personally, have much better things to do ... like rotate the tires on my jeep!

Did being raised a JW retard your career or cost you BIG $$$?

i was offered a journalism scholarship at ohio state ... mom made me turn it down cause "armageddonwas near"... ended up a janitor!

I would say 'Yes'. I was denied some opportunities when I was in high school. My parents didn't want my brother and I to obtain post secondary school education and hence, did not save any money to help us. The new system was going to be here shortly so we didn't need to go to school -- just get a good job at a good company because the Baby Bonus had run out.

Well, my brother and I aren't stupid and could see the enormous flaw in that logic, especially since the world was a very different one for us than when our parents left home. So we footed our college education costs ourselves, with some care packages of food being all my parents 'could afford'. Never was 'follow your passion/dream' part of the criteria and starting a business was forbidden (too risky).

Since we both went through something similar to Community College in the U.S., my brother is now looking at getting his degree. I may have to do the same. Both of us could have been making more money earlier had we gone through University and obtained degrees over 20 years ago. I also believe more opportunities would have been available to us had we had the degree behind our names.

At any rate, I'm not doing too badly and I hope to continue to learn and grow and be open to new opportunities.

for example the return of christ to earth to establish his earthly kingdom, the start of the gt and the continuing on to the day of armageddon, the preaching of the gospel around the world ...etc.
