  What made you start questioning: people or doctrine?

  let us know what got you questioning wbts in the first place.

  i've got a theory that it starts with people hurting us and only then does the "apostate" turn to looking at the beliefs.. anybody who started questioning beliefs first?.

  Doctrine. As a born-in I completely believed everything & thought everything I disagreed with e.g. subjection of women, Cedar Point, Ohio, death of Solomon's baby etc was my fault for not having a good enough understanding. Then over the years my "wait on Jehovah" mental folder just became too big, & it crushed my faith.

  As soon as I started trusting my own judgement the doctrines became laughable.

  Many believing lurkers will now be thinking of the scripture "Do not lean upon your own understanding", to which I'd just say that if you're going to submit your whole life to someone elses "understanding", you'd better make damn sure they're worthy of your trust.

  i did not sleep well last night.

  i tossed and turned until 4 am .

  got up and decided to see what was going on.. i am so disappointed in some of you.. simon posted a thread requesting people not post links to the new shepherding book.

  it's ok.... to post here on the internet, on jwn, and other jw related forums.. first of all, as we all know, the governing body doesn't provide a forum for jw's to "associate" with their brothers and sisters.

  i'm just guessing, and i could be wrong, that its harder to control the flock when they have free access to information and each other.

  damn electricity and the technology it brings..... anyway, i realize that for anyone leaving, or for practicing jw's, to post is a nervous thing.

  JW Gone Bad - lovely post, I do hope there are many more like you (& me) - the ones that the JW hardliners call 'weak', or 'waste of space' - & I so agree with you about Blondie's 'Comments you will not hear', for a while at the beginning, those posts were the only ones I would read!

  i just found out that i have breast cancer on thursday (see topic http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/medical/190249/1/i-was-in-the-hospital ).

  my sister has breast cancer too.

  she has had it longer than me.

  so supposedly.... the devil had access to all the prophecies written about jesus, right?

  it was all "written aforetime" so he knew in advance the details that would help people identify the messiah.

  he was aware that, for the sake of god's will, jesus would have to die.. why didn't satan just protect jesus?

  agonus, bring in a heart of wisdom. When Jesus said "...to the least of these my brothers" he evidently meant the greatest honour should go to those taking the lead. These most faithful men of the Governing Body are evidently first or greatest in knowledge, wisdom and all Christian qualities including humility. Hence it is reasonable to conclude that being greatest in humility corresponds to being "least". Therefore all right minded Christians of today should do obeisence to the Governing Body.

  ) currently on,you have an average size elder body.

  I think they're in managing decline mode.

  The question is how to maximise profit - sorry, steward God's earthly riches appropriately - in the face of falling revenue streams as the recession bites.

  They also don't have a coherent doctrine about the last days anymore - that ended with the generation change in the mid-90s.

  I need help urgently

  can anyone provide the date, page and para of the watchtowers where it says in the 'koolaid' version that the org is directed by god/holy spirit and the 'public' version where it states they are not.

  i know they are both reasonably recent, possibly 2009. i did have the information written down but, the muppet that i am, i tidied my desk and shredded some paper work and i must have shredded the piece of paper with the dates on.. i need them tonight for sil parents who are visiting........ i'm on a mission.. thanx..

  The society tries to preserve the distinction without a difference of "Spirit directed" as opposed to "Spirit inspired".

  If anyone tries to pull that, er, rubbish on you, ask them to explain the difference.
