Announcement: Schools for Couples and Single Brothers replaced by School for 'everyone'

but it was officially announced today that the school for couples and the school for single brothers were being combined with the new twist that single sisters would be allowed also.

I'm not 100% sure they have thought this through. They will be overwhelmed with applications from late 30's early 40's single sisters with 20 years regular pioneering and quiet desperation behind them. Put those sisters in a residential school with a lot of single elders & ministerial servants, throw in a few married couples reaching the 7 year itch stage and you've got the makings of quite a farce.

Maybe they will need a new arrangement " automatic Judicial committees for graduates of the theocratic school for evangelizers" - just in case.

so it's been seven months since i moved out of my parents place and in with my (now) fiance.

they came to our door this morning and it's been a long time since i spoke to my parents.

i was never disfellowshipped because i was never baptized but there is still online limited contact.

They'll offer you and your fiance a bible study. It's a pity he's put you back on their radar. Your parents shouldn't be shunning you but maybe they are uber hard core. Try and count the fallacies in the meeting tomorrow to help pass the time. Good luck.

It does fell horrrible. I bumped into an elder from my (ex) hall at a social thing a month or two ago, so he knows I've been inactive for months. He basically ignored me & I felt tiny and guilty. It will get easier though.

"About 1914 CE"?

i have no doubt that this has been raised here before, so please excuse my laxness.. at pages 1766 and 1767 of the 2013 nwt, the wts lays out god's "right to rule".. i notice that it does not make any statement about god's kingdom starting to rule in 1914 ce.

instead the only comment regarding that year is that it says the serpent was hurled to earth "about" 1914 ce.. is this a shift, or not?.

what do they mean by "the serpent being hurled to earth"?

Forgot to say, that the qualifier 'about' 1914 is to disguise the snafu whereby the 1st ww started in August, but previously the society claimed that the war in heaven didnt break out until october

They do sometimes talk about Satan popping back to heaven to accuse the righteous, referencing Job where the Devil was said to have been wandering around the earth, observing Job.

So apparently, Jehovh didn't disfellowship Satan, and continued talking to him, even though he didn't live with him (!) for nearly 6000 years, until 'about' 1914.

christians are the single most widely persecuted religious group in the world today.

1. christian churches around the world have set apart the month of november to remember and pray for the persecuted church, through the international day of prayer for the persecuted church (idop).. 2. according to the u.s. department of state, christians in more than 60 countries face persecution from their governments or surrounding neighbors simply because of their belief in christ.. 3. with the exception of four official state-controlled churches in pyongyang, christians in north korea face the risk of detention in the prison camps, severe torture and, in some cases, execution for practicing their religious beliefs.

north koreans suspected of having contact with south korean or other foreign missionaries in china, and those caught in possession of a bible, have been known to be executed.. 4. in syria, christians are increasingly becoming the target of violent attacks.

about the circuit i grew up in:.

last decade, a congregation was dissolved.. last year, about a half a dozen or so congregations meeting in a double-hall got re-orged and it works out to one less congregation.

they received all new territories, bodies of elders, publishers.

No new english speaking congregations since the late 80's in my area of the UK. A few new foreign language groups which are now being merged back into the english.
