  A sad thought

  yesterday afternoon, the sad thought popped into my mind that, apparently, some witnesses could be made to believe anything provided it appears on the magazines.

  if they said that accepting blood is now ok, many would take transfusions, and that would sort of make sense.

  but if they also said that hell is a physical place after all, many would accept that, too.

  A good Jehovah's Witness believes in one thing only - the sayings of the self-identified Slave Class.

  Once you realise this, the whole thing collapses.

  The society could come out tomorrow with a "Why you should believe the trinity" brouchure and 7 million witnesses would have to agree with it or risk disfellowshipping.

  The Pew reports are good.

  JWs have a 60/40 split between women and men, which along with historically Black protestant churchs is the most unbalanced.

  The average education table is, er, illuminating...

  In the American Population 27% are college graduates or post graduates. Some religions seem to value education. The figure rises to 59% for all Jews, to 74% for Hindus.

  But for JWs, only 9% are graduates or post-grads - that's the lowest attainment of any group measured. Looks like the no college rule, sorry suggestion, got taken to heart.

  The old big orange "Paradise" book

  anyone remember that?

  i learned to read on that book.there were some very disturbing images,like the earth opening up and people falling into it.like upside down ladies and hippies.id love to get a hold of one and peruse it with a friend and some herbal medicine.maybe there is one in the attic?anyway,that and the image of the snake talking to the beautiful,bare shouldered eve,who was holding an apple,made a big impression on me.any else have any faves from that book?is it still being used?.

  my mother was very strict about entertainment.

  in school i was doing a project about teen suicide and had checked out some books on suicide and abortion.

  i had alot of explaining to do for that.

  last sept the european union was ratified.

  i believe next step is into 3, american, european, asia/pacific.

  Yup, as a witness I saw every move towards greater co-operation and union as setting the scene for the One-World Government which would then turn on religion and thus usher in Armageddon.

  Now, as a non-believer, I'm actually quite in favour of a one world government, and don't see it as a sinister power grab by a secret elite manipulated by Satan. It won't happen any time soon, but an attitude of 'we're all on this beautiful earth together - let's make it work' would be a refreshing change from the current tribalism.

  Why are there so many people on this planet who want to tell me that God is going to kill me unless I believe their interpretation of their choice of holy book?

  Quoting from the OP - "You can prove that Jehovah has drawn you to his Son, thereby giving you free access to himself? You can prove the Holy Spirit is WITH YOU, and IN YOU as it was the Apostles?"

  What on earth does 'prove' mean in these sentences?

  the watchtower will be studied tomorrow that contains the new overlapping generations teaching.

  paragraph 10 reads:.

  "he evidently meant that the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation.".
