  My sucky situation

  hi guys,.

  sadly some of them had been in bethel for 5 - 10 years and were still cleaning toilets.. after about 2 years of it i couldn't do it anymore.

  i always knew something wasn't quite right with this organization.

  Just a bit of possible hope, brotherdan - and I'm sure alot of us have gone through similar situations.

  When I first told my wife how I felt, she didn't react as violently as yours did. But, she did say that this probably put an end to some of the plans we had together, such as where we wanted to move and live and even not having children - which I knew right off meant eventual divorce because both of us love kids too much to give up having them.

  So I didn't do anything. I didn't react, I didn't lash out, I didn't try and bombard her with information about how wrong the WTS was. I just decided to be the best husband I possibly could, and let it play out. We've both been out about two years together now, and we're having the best time of our life.

  here's 3 easy points that disprove all of their nonsense.. 1) australia proves evolution happened - what's the one country in the world with the weirdest animals on earth?

  Fair enough but that still doesn't fly with a Creationist viewpoint, unless there is some creationist somewhere who believes that humans not only existed but carried marsupials across a land bridge 30-100 million years ago.

  The oldest Australian marsupial fossils are over 30,000,000 years old, and don't occur elsewhere on earth. Any creationist rationalization would fall apart upon that consideration, no? Obviously men brought camels and cats over a few hundred years ago, you can't make the same claims for marsupials.

  one of the things i really like about being out of the cult is that i no longer have to go to those long, boring district conventions.

  instead, i can do other things with my new family (fiancee and soon to be step son).

  we were out and about sunday, i had taken the day off from work, no point in bothering people with collections on a sunday and a holiday.. we had planned to go to a suburb of st. louis, mo (st. charles) and see some of the vendors on the riverfront in the afternoon and then wait for the fireworks in the evening .

  I was driving home, and they were reading off some things about parasites on the radio.
  
  They read about a parasite (Leucochloridium) who lives in bird feces. It can only reproduce inside a bird. But, since birds are not in the habit of eating feces, it has to get creative. Snails have no such qualms about eating poop, so it uses the snail as an escort - when the snail slimes over the feces, it gets in the snail. However, these birds are also not in the habit of eating snails. So the parasite must get even more creative. So, it gets into the eye of the snail, and makes the eye swell until it looks like a caterpillar. But it is still at a disadvantage, because snails generally hide in dark places, where birds would not look. So, the parasite is able to manipulate the snail into going out in the open, where a bird will see it's caterpillar eye, and eat it. The parasite grows and lays it's eggs in the bird, it is pooped out, and the cycle begins again.
  
  Now obviously this parasite is an AMAZING organism. Just look at what it can do!
  
  But what sounds better? That this parasite was designed to function as it does by a creator (who also created the poor snail), or that this parasite-snail-bird relationship is simply the product of years of evolution, and the unfortunately at times very cruel molding process of nature?
  
  Which makes more sense?

  I agree. So if we know that going in, our expectations will be lowered to the appropriate level, and we can stop expecting them to be perfect. The only religions that will still have trouble are the ones that raise the unreasonable expectations for themselves.

  Religion fills a psychological need for some people, and that's what it should be there for - not as an infallible ticket-punching attendant for salvation.
