  my friends and i agreed if we need to go to the bathroom, all we have to say "i need to use the phone" it is better than saying i need to go to the bathroom..

  2009 Drama - Kudos to Bethel. Sorry.

  my overall impression of this year's modern-day prodigal son drama was that it was one of the best i've ever seen.

  "best" if the goal is to try to convince young jws to stay in the org.. the amount of cheesiness was at an all-time low, imo.

  there were a few exceptions, but i got the impression that bethel is getting pretty good intel from the field and incorporating it into the program.

  I went to a JW get-together last night

  so here in the jw complex, well, 90% are jw's, a couple of my friends had a bbq yesterday.

  i was invited.

  they had heard about some of my comments and questions regarding the organization, but i guess they forgot about that.. the friends there were from three different congregations.

  oh, how it happens:

  guy comes on board

  gives experience, negative points... check.

  positive points ... HALT!

  suddently the disprespect and attacks begin.

  NO! THERE IS NO WAY SOMEONE COULD HAVE A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE WITNESSES!!! ITS ALLLLL BAD!!!! IF YOU THINK YOU HAD AN OUNCE OF A GOOD TIME, WHY DONT YOU GO BACK.

  Hello everyone

  i have been lurking on here for some time and i finally decided to join the fray.

  i am 25 years old and was raised in the society.

  fortunately when i was 8, my father left the organization and this allowed me to see the wrold from both angles, the jw (mom) and not (dad).. at first, i was strongly on the side of the witnesses and i even allowed myself to be convinced that getting baptised at 11 was a good idea.

  curtis shane thompson was raised by his jw mom.

  in 1985 he was arrested and subsequently convicted for four violent rapes in the seattle area.

  no, i realize i made them myself, but i used the inspiration from the bible, which was taught to me in part by the JWs, to spur this on.

  certainly, the JWs play a part in my positive changes.

  if they didnt, then no one apparently can have a positive influence, it is all within you, and i actually believe this is pretty much true. But then it kinda kills the original argument... that JWs in particular cannot affect positive change.
