  shouldn't this site really be called "ex jw" instead or something like that??

  (in my country the eqivalent site is called "the support source").. isn't the name a bit misleading since most of us aren't jws anymore and doesn't want anything to do with them?.

  of course, pro-JW boards go against the teachings of their "society" so i dont even figure them in.

  But this place claims to be a bastion of free thinking, freedom from the organization, but in reality, it seems maybe you dont ban pro-jw's off the bat, but you feel a need to start numerous threads about them, calling them out, exclusively... why ban them when you can harrass them?!?!?

  there are constant examples of how closed minded some people here are, they claim to be SO open now, oh we are FREE of those RULES!!! but they are just looking for another master.

  that being said, i also feel a need to reiterate that i have learned some important things here, amongst the mud of propoganda. Its a valuable place, but lets be frank here.

  It's an anti-JW place.

  The "They Are Imperfect" Excuse

  doesn't it just make you sick to your stomach?.

  dozens of doctrine changes that effect the lives of the rank and file: the fds are only imperfect men and didn't understand the bible truths at the time.. pedophiles that are protected or not reported and allowed to stay in the congregation: these men are imperfect and this sin isn't unique to jws.

  the organisation has it's problems just like any other...they are not perfect after all.. all their prophesies - failed: the fds are only imperfect men and have never claimed to be a prophet.. i am truly sick of this overused excuse.

  haha Reniaa, is treated like a DIETY here.

  anyway, there's no way a small group can reverse the corrupt teachings of the mainstream religion of almost 2000 years without making some mistakes. They really came a long way - really, the JWs are a step in the right direction, they just fuck it all up with more, additional, almost pharisaic teachings.

  I cant speak for the organization, the highers up could be right backwards for all i know.

  however, the people i knew in the organization were open to change, and waiting for more change, they realize even RIGHT NOW that the borg doesnt have everythign right. How could they?

  again, i feel the need to reiterate that im glad im not a part of it, too much arbitrary bullshit...

  but, credit where credit is due.

  if they named it any different, they wouldnt nearly get their jollies off as much by attacking pro-JW viewpoints (even for people that have many negative points as well... NO PRO JW POINTS ALLOWED HERE!)

  seriously, its named to draw JWs in. thats it.

  if it was ex-jws.net it would just them.

  reinna brings up some interesting points and arguments...

  of course the banhammer is asked for.

  anyway, they ARE imperfect. imperfect men running a perfect organization.

  i cringe at that statement. however, "the light gets brighter" makes sense, i am sure they couldnt get it all right off the bat.

  problem is, they dont admit it nearly as much as they should.

  As it stands, they have doctrinal stuff right miles above any other organization. But their other bullshit kinda ruins it all.

  Coptic John 1:1 makes it into the Watchtower.

  wt november 1st has a two page article on how the early sahidic coptic version of the new testament translated god with an indefinite article in john 1:1 and argues this supports the new world translation's rendering "and the word was a god".

  online witness apologists have been using this piece of evidence in support of the nwt for a few years now.

  in particular solomon landers promoted the coptic version of john 1:1 in discussions with evangelicals and other who oppose witness theology.

  hehe, so, if you defend the WT translation of john 1:1, you are automatically a "watchtower apologist" ??? I fucking hate the watchtower, but logically, what seems right, seems right... to label anyone is many times a sure sign of insecurity.

  anyone df or da are viewed by active jws as "dead when armageddon comes".

  you people are so bent on the witnesses all being bent on us dying, wanting to kill us, etc...

  its all projection.

  for the most part, witnesses just want to see people "repent" - it is offensive enough to be called "unrepentant sinners" - no sense in projecting an additional psychopathy to them, that is likely not mostly true.

  some exjws carry the persecution complex with them

  now i understand the mechanics of cult mind control, i can see precisely why they make the statements highlighted in bold.

  it does make me question whether the governing body are cognizant of their use of mind control.

  simplify your life...that was maybe a good jw idea.......but how??

  once your kids move out.....and you hit midlife crap..........just how much do you or should you do this?.....here in usa......times are pretty awful moneywise/workwise.......i just feel the need to downsize bigtime..........anybody gone supersimple and are now superhappier??........thanks......oompa.

  simplifying your life was one of the positive things the witnesses instilled in me - and i think its just best to kinda ignore ads for the latest and greatest things, and love what you have.

  as a musician/producer this is difficult for me, for instance, but i think the end product is much more important than the gear that got you there :)
