Will be getting together with brothers and sisters for a private participation in the Lord's Supper for the fourth year. Kingdom Halls are dead, just like their "Jesus".

Have JW's got the Memorial date wrong?
by wobble ini remember a long and complicated debate between our very own joseph malik and the unbelievably named rud perrson about the sabbaths that seemed to show that the nit-picking witlesses had even got this wrong !.
i would love to see a simple explanation.. the other thing is that i do believe the once a year thing is wrong, jesus didn't say "every passover", they were enjoying a meal together, and he said "as often as you do this......" so whenever they ate together it would be good to have something that celebrated jesus' life and death.. but is nisan14 wrong anyway ?.
love.

JW's sometimes get the date wrong. They have started the count at the astronomical new moon (no visibility) when they should go by first visibility of the new moon, which is the ancient way of reckoning it. Also technically you are supposed to calculate the New Year when the barley in Palestine is at the aviv stage of development. If it is immature you add an extra month to the year - making it a thirteen month long year - delaying Nisan until the next New Moon. In events like this they can be as much as a month off, which was the case in 2008.

This good news of the kingdom
by sd-7 inif you'll open your 'benefit from theocratic ministry school education' books to page 279, you'll notice that it says, "the message jesus said would be preached in our time goes beyond what was preached in the first century.
" if you actually opened your books, i'm paraphrasing, but that's pretty close to the actual quote.. i remembered this quote from sometime ago, but couldn't understand how people overlooked this obvious violation of galatians 1:8: "even though we or an angel out of heaven should declare to you as good news something beyond what we preached, let him be accursed.".
of course, the answer is obvious: many jws don't pay attention to what they read.

At Matthew 24:14 Jesus referred to the message as “this good news of the Kingdom”, speaking to audience which included twelve men that he had trained and previously sent out to share the same. He wasn’t referring to some future message to be revealed in the 1920’s but rather a message that was already being shared during his ministry. Jesus was prophesying that message that he and his apostles had begun sharing to the nation of Israel would go out to the gentile nations as well.

I was surprised to find this information buried in the back of a book I can only remember reading to look at specific council points I was working on in the school. It provided a concise view of what the Witnesses believe is the "good news of the kingdom" which I hope to incorporate in something I'm writing.

OK I dug out my "Benefitting From Theocratic Education" and here is the quote under the heading "This Good News of the Kingdom"
"Note, however, that the message that Jesus said would be proclaimed in our day goes beyond what his followers preached in the first century".
Wow! Good find.

Interesting. Could you type out the actual quote? It would be much more helpful than a paraphrase.

White horse of the Apocalypse... not Jesus??
by In inrevelation talks about four horses.
the verses in nwt say a seal is opened, and four horses ride forth.
the first is on a white horse.
-
donuthole
Yes there is nothing explicit in that verse to identify the rider of the horse as Jesus with the exception of the white horse. (Later in Revelation Jesus is specifically mentioned as riding on a white horse.)
The part of revelation dealing with the four horsemen says they are give authority over the four parts of the earth to kill a fourth of mankind in four ways
famine
disease
civil war
wild beastsSo maybe literal wild beasts or more likely some governmental entity.
Crowns simply denote rulership. The rider of the white horse does not have the diadamos kingly crown of Jesus but rather the laurel military crown. Other unholy entities in Revelation are also depicted with crowns such as the Dragon and the locust/scorpions that come from the Abyss.

So Maria didn't think C.T. Russell was guilty of adultery but rather what she considered to be flirtateous, inappropriate conduct with a younger woman. It would seem weird for someone who never consumated marraige with their own wife to be some sort of sexual "jelly-fish". I think this court report is a non-issue.

DOES THE BIBLE really really EXIST?
by Terry inthe bible did not exist in jesus' day nor in the lifespan of his apostles.. people didn't walk around with one (bible) tucked under their arm.. christians didn't carry one (bible) door to door for preaching and teaching.. the closest thing to the bible was the septuigint greek translation of hebrew scriptures which not one person in a 10,000 had ever seen!.
creation of the septuagint (wikipedia article).
...in the third century bce[6].

Lot's of passion in this subject. Suprising that it isn't matched by scholars attempting to prove the authenticity and accuracy of the Illiad, another ancient Greek document we don't have the original of, only having a few hundred copies dated five hundred years after the original.
