Even if JW did have the correct "good news" I would really question how much they are preaching it. In all of my hours in the door-to-door work the subject rarely was addressed. More often it was "Hello my name is Anthony and I am just sharing with you and your neighbors this wonderful article from the Awake! magazine, "How to train your dog." I noticed that you have a dog chain in your yard ... "

Any a cursory reading of the NT will reveal marked differences between Jehovah's Witnesses and the Christians of that day. Within the religion today you will looked down upon for speaking the name of Jesus too much whereas the early Christians had no such problem. When it came to their community and ministry, Jesus was their focus.
I think because of their opposition to the Trinity doctrine JW's have a stigma for giving honor and attention to Jesus. JW's have admitted that in the past they removed many of the songs that focused on Jesus so that it would be a much smaller ratio to songs about Jehovah. Today he is just a foot-note. Using the forementioned example of the songbook, the previous release featured more songs glorifying the door-to-door work than about Christ. The newest version goes even further and takes away Christ and interjects the faithful and discreet slave.
Jesus said, "no one comes to the Father except through me." Sometimes I feel that JW's believe they have found a hidden back door.

Debator,
So if the word has multiple meanings why does the NWT choose to say that a man did obeisance to Jesus and that John worshipped the angel and not the other way around?

An interesting question. I do know that the leaders of the JW's use the ACLU when they feel their religious rights are being encroached upon. Not sure how they would feel about the rank-and-file doing volunteer work for what may be seen as a political organization.

When a man bows down before Jesus the NWT says he is doing "obeisance" when John bows down before an angel the NWT says he is "worshipping". It is the same act, same Greek word, what is the difference? Again back to my statement, why do the translators choose to render the same word/action in two different ways?

I would like an explanation from debator as to how "obeisance" differs from "worship" and what criteria is used when translating Proskuneo one way or the other. As I see it the NWT simply uses "obeisance" in all cases where Jesus is the recipient despite the context.

It would be funny if the did a JW episode of that Hoarders TV show where they go into the house and it is wall to wall literature with a narrow path running through each room.

Avoiding the Meeting
by brotherdan inso, darth plaugeis (or however you spell it) has suggested that the best way to get out of going to the meeting is to tell your wife that it's time to get ready for the meeting, and when her back is turned hit her over the head with a large object.. i'm sure there are better ways to get out of going.
i'm looking for some real ideas here.
" i like the whole getting your wife (or husband) drunk before the meeting so they won't want to go idea.

Women can always claim "cramps".

I never felt right about throwing them away so they tended to just accumulate in boxes around the house. Once I was making a giant paper mache Death Star to wear as a costume and I put the magazines to use then. An elder buddy didn't exactly appreciate that.

@Cheezits - Does your phone have audio recording capabilities? That is probably the simplest way to record the preceedings if you so desire. You just have to be careful about State law.
