the only way the society would get involved if an elder were being sued, is if they themselves were mentioned in the suit and were also being sued, my guess is they couldn't distance themselves fast or far enough. The elders and as a by product, the elderettes would be left hanging in the wind so to speak.

Elders and liability issues
by wannabefree inelder, have you contacted the society's legal department and asked if they would recommend you carry a personal liability insurance policy?.
it would be interesting to hear their response.
would they say yes, no, or that is for you to decide.. the society has been sued and has paid out big settlements.

I asked my best friend how the GB makes its decsions last night...
by dontplaceliterature inmy best friend does not know about my recent mental defection from the watchtower, but i am having trouble keeping my feelings from him completely....so, last night, i asked my him if he thought the governing body was always in 100% agreement about every policy/doctrine decision they make.
" i asked him how he thought they went about making those decisions and he said that, "they probably discuss it as a group, research it, read the bible together, and discuss it some more until they come to a conclusion...just like a boe would when deciding a judicial matter.
" i said: "don't you think that if they were jehovah's 'mouth-piece' and they are indeed being guided by jesus christ and holy spirit, that there would be no doubt about what the right course of action is?

DPL they are just men and nothing more, to think otherwise is silly at best. Yet, many still think they speak for god, but just think about 2 Thess. 2:
who is it that sets in the temple in the place of god and thinks they speak for him. that is one I will going over with my family soon.

it's a Pavlovian response to a stimulation. We have been conditioned to think like that, just as today, anything bad happening gets most dubs all sweaty and excited thinking the end is nigh. But alsas as time passes they realize it's just around the corner again. (ha ha) They never will reach the corner unless it be the corner of their lives. And as they lay there dying they wonder WTF happened to the end, this isn't what I wanted to happen.

As he was kind of doing some of it (or all) for the society, wouldn't this be described as an almost Watchtower spiritual crime?

Can anyone ask to see the congregation or assembly accounts report?
by ThomasCovenant infrom memory once a month someone would read out the accounts report from the platform.
this usually said how much went in, how much went out and what the balance was.
details were given as to utility bills etc.. at circuit and district assemblies no details were given, apart from the fact that we were always in a deficit by the sunday lunchtime.. has anyone asked or can anyone ask to see the details?

Just remember you will know the truth and the truth will set you free, that is of course if you aren't asking the truth of just how the expenses at the 1 day, 2 day or Disctrict assembly were accumulated. Then there is no freedom, you will be ostracised (spelling) and marked and be under a microscope. I have asked on and off about why are they donating $$$ to the society when the bills haven't been paid yet, and there (supposedly) exists a defecit man talk about getting a jaundiced eye thrown at you.

So many today are delusional, thinking they are actually doing the Lord's work by going out and placing literature as if that is what Jesus had in mind so many years ago. The society likes to direct the disciple making work to all the R&F if one however were to actually read the scripture at matthew 28:16 they would see it was to the 11 apostles that he gave that admonition to, not everyone one who was believing in him. Just like in John 10:16 they switch that from the gentiles to anyone who isn't of the supposed anointed. They are definitely members of the Chubby Checker twist and shout school. twist the scriptures to fit preconcieved ideas and shout it out to one and all.

King jehosphat
by ssn587 inin the bible at 2 chron 17: 9, 10 it points out that all the nations that were around judah were in dread of jehovah, seemingly because in vs. 9 it mentions that "and they began teaching in judah, and with them there was the book of jehovah's law, and they kept going around through all the cities of judah and teaching among the people.
" this to me seems ridiculous, why would any nation be in dread of a god they didn't worship?
how were all the nations around judah to know of thsi god jehovah?

I enjoy these critiques of the Wt, however they would be of a real help if they arrived prior to rather than after the study, that being said, keep up the good work. The wtbts tried to slip in the 500 nonsense again, the all authority was given to 11 people the apostles, not 500 others as is shown by Matthew 28:16 oh well no one there at the meetings probably even thought about it, they aren't allowed to.
