SDA church general conference has voted NO on womens ordination and now there is a big fight

last wednesday the question was put 'can unions ordain women as ministers in the sda church?

the vote was defeated yes 41.35 to no 58.45.. the dutch churches responded quickly saying they won't be changing there policy and will continue to ordain women.. the north american division and the two conferences in california have women pastors that are already ordained.. the sda pastors in china are mostly women.. the internet is running hot with opinions one way or the other.

here is how millennials feel about there church at this point most are studying at an sda university.

I take heart knowing that the current governing body will not be there forever and that a new body will lead the organization with open minds. Changes will be made in doctrine.

If that were possible in the Jehovah's Witness religion then it would quickly fall appart.

There's little chance that the Witnesses would change if the Roman Catholic Church can undo the Second Vatican progressive advances and still strong arm the American nuns into submission. I think the JWs and the Catholic men in charge like it that way and will keep that fascist combat boot pressing on the necks of women for as long as they can. Swine!

I think the SDA Church can have this sort of conversation/argument because they've never had the Patristic oligarchical tradition that JWs, Catholics, Greek-Orthodox and Mormons have against women, for example.

it's been four years (has it really been that long) that i haven't been on jwd.. i was back out west for a long while and i came back to new england.

just got an appartment with another sister and things are looking up.

i'm keeping under the radar and avoiding elder visits--not fully out of the kingdom hall yet.

Perry: Welcome back. What would you say is the biggest difference between east coast and west coast JW's is?

Huh! That made me stop and think.The Jehovah's Witnesses I grew up with were more laid back, definitely, but more earnest, but more fun, but more flirty, but more warm to each other, it's hard to describe it.

But the ones I've met in New England and especially around Boston are always busy, too busy, too stressed out, no time to have much fun, and waste a good part of the morning at Dunkin Donuts or McDonalds, they drive like maniacs and some--not all--are very self righteous, and gossip like old matrons.

Some Latinos and Black brothers from Southern MA and RI are very hip and wear soot suits (ya! I don't know why??? But it's kinda cool, and colorful socks too! Take that Anthony Morris III).

I do miss the get-togethers out west, the food, the weather, and the flatness of it all. Going in service in MA was a real trip at first, never seeing the horizon, woods everywhere and the houses seemed like they were all weird.

What is the "Analysis Report" (S-10) form that CO's request from COBOE's?

i've heard of an s-10 form that elders are to have filled in called an "analysis report".... what is the "analysis report" (s-10) form that co's request from coboe's?.

what information is requested?

does it evaluate other elders and ms's and people with responsibilities in the congregations or the physical status of the kh itself?.

NEW RUMOR: WT ALLOWS BIRTHDAYS

i've just read at a spanish forum for ex-jw that the wt has cooked a new light article series about social celebrations, including birthdays and aniversaries.

according to a member of this forum 'in short' the wt will let witnesses to decide by 'their bible trained conscience' either they celebrate birthdays or not.

is this rumor based in some real facts or it's just bullshit?.

SEX! and the DC Sunday Drama

the sunday drama at the dc was a parallel ancient (joseph in egypt) and modern (jw kid in high school) drama.

I know many here thought it was an embarrassing drama...

I know why I personally think it embarrassing.

I think the Joseph was HOT! And those Egyptian guards, wowwie!

I actually liked the "drama" it reminded me of a soap opera.

How many times have we been reminded not to watch soap operas?

How many times have we been counseled not to keep watching shows that highlight SEX?

How many times have we been told to get out of the theater or change the channel?

Well, keep it up Watchtower! The hypocrisy can only make for more "conscious" Witnesses.

Otherwise, the gestures-exaggerated acting and obvious tentalizing wordplays made for a cheap theatric spectacle.

Bethel U.S Zone visit scheduled for Oct 2011

it will involve 2 special meetings on oct 22 and oct 29. the meetings will be a. watchtower summary.. a member of the us branch committee will give a report on "progress in the field.".

talk by a visiting zone overseer.

and a talk by the gb.. it will be "approx 2 1/2 hours in length.

I like your account of the Zone Visit you experienced, LWT. That African brother told it like it was, I like it.

It makes me gag, though, to see this new Zone Visit presented to the R&F as if it was some sort of "parousia".
