So any male member of the rank and file who doesn't feel the calling to serve is doomed to being single or leaving to find a mate. I was fortunate that my SO told me she never bought into that. She just wanted a nice man who was faithful to her. She also said she had enough of the pompous attitudes of elders, MSs, and servant wannabees so as to be turned off by them. She told me not too long ago that she is really glad I'm neither an MS nor Elder. She loves me and not a title. I have a good woman.

Remember - protection for the group but not for the individual. There are countless collateral dead from the concentration camps in Germany whose death is testamant to this fact.
Also, when I'm involved in a hobby, it makes me thankful to be alive and most appreciative of a wonderful creator who allowed me to exist and enjoy myself. Counter that to when I'm getting doors slammed in my face and I have to take my pills to keep from feeling suicidal.

one thing that that struck me was how their view of paradise was that we would all be the same.
they kept talking about how nice it would be if we all spoke the same language.

This has been one of my concerns for a long time. I realized a world full of Witnesses would almost be a fate worse than death. I just have never gotten along that well with any JWs. They always have judged me, pushed me to do things I was uncomfortable doing, labeled me spiritually weak, and when I would share with them things I was interested in, I'd get told things like, "We will just have to wait and see in the new system." Even my frequent computer use at one time was shunned. It actually makes me angry when I go to a meeting and see everyone with tablets, ipads, smart phones, kindles, etc. It's not the same religion I grew up in and the emotional turmoil I struggle with comes to the fore. I shake so bad I need to take a sedative and my doctor doesn't understand why I keep going if I'm affected this badly. It's hard to explain and he tells me not to go if I get this worked up.
When you suffer through a "current understanding" only to find out later there was nothing wrong with it in the first place and now everyone is doing it and can do it, you are left feeling like, "What in the heck did I endure all those years of emotional abuse and turmoil for when there was nothing wrong with it the first place?"
I go, but only once in a great while, because I have a streak of fear and guilt aftewards that lasts about 4 days before I feel normal again. It's the strangest thing I've ever experienced. Even my wife says she can't deal with me for 4 days afterwards and she is drained trying to bring me back around to my old self. It's something severely psychological, but I can't quite put a finger on it. It's really weird and I don't understand why it seems I'm afflicted with this and others aren't...or they are but they don't tell anyone.

I've been stumbled.
by silent ini just realized that all these dates that the borg have said the end would come on or by and then it didn't happen, have stumbled me.
why such a fascination and trying to divine the answer from scripture when scripture plainly says only the father knows the day and the hour?
by their predictions, they actually sent many christians on the path of date-based worship insted of faith-based worship.. if they have stumbled me, then who is reponsible for that?.

Thanks for your comments everyone. It's amazing how many different views you can have over such a simple statement such as, "I've been stumbled." Isn't it amazing that if you, personally, stumble someone then woe is you! What a horrible mistake you've made, etc., but let WBTS do something that stumbles people (like date setting) and it's all justified as the light getting brighter aka nu-light and those who may have been stumbled are to blame.
It never ceases to amazing how they have the attitude that they can do no wrong and they never ever apologize to the rank and file for their errors. It's always under the guise of nu-light or justified that they understood it that way at the time. If they can use those rationalizations, then the rank and file can too. How long do you think the statement, "I received a blood transfusion because I understand Acts 15:28,29 differently now then I did back then." would fly? It was personal new light that was handed down to you as an answer to a prayer.
