i LOVE christmas .....its what you make it, no i dont belive in god in the convetional sense, just dont get it, to long winded to explain. christmas for me is about santa, christmas trees, decs, yeah if you want to include the enjoyable story of the baby jesus do so......REMEMBER you were brain washed .....your free to do what you want now. i was lucky i wasnt born into the cult of religion be that jws or any other....so when i left nearly twenty years ago i couldnt wait to start celebrating christmas again. i had seven years of not celebrating christmas, the x wife left first she had a christmas tree up by the end of october....of course i was horriffid!!! ( everytime she went out i did a little jig of joy all the twinkling little lghts and decorations, i could of hugged that tree) i had already left in my heart, i hadnt been to the meeting for 3 months i went back for about two weeks, and i havent stepped inside a kingdom hall since. look guys the truth is this.... whats the issue? if its not hurting anyone enjoy it .... christmas is for everyone atheists christians muslims whatever!

How many of you atheists, agnostics, deists are celebrating Xmas??
by SweetBabyCheezits inwe are celebrating xmas this year for the first time.
it's kinda weird because, even though we're doing a xmas tree, decorations, gifts, we're more or less taking the christ out of christmas.
so how about the rest of you non-christian heathens?.

A Possible Reason Why Some Want To Be Jehovah's Witnesses
by minimus ini think some want to be witnesses even if they know some of the teachings and views are questionable because they feel special!.
if they get a "privilege" or are allowed to pioneer or allowed to preach from house to house and be "ministers", they feel like they are somebody.. what do you think?

i think you will find that the majority of jw's know its just a religion...your opinions are quite right as are others stated here. for me as soon as i realised it was just another religion i was gone, not for me doing a few hours in the service giving a talk from the platform. all religion can be infiltrated by sinister people, but the majority are harmless....personally i think all religions should come with a goverment health warning.

My kid gets it
by mamalove inso last night my 6 year old tells me that her dad said to her while tucking her in at night "mama is going to die because she caused the divorce, and grandpa wanted mommy to divorce me all the days of his life.".
(my dad left the lie when i was 5, and i left a year ago... and subsequently am almost through with the divorce and the ex is a bitter, ignorant, crazy tempered jw).
so its all our fault, and i am going to die, makes sense.. last night i called up the ex and told him that he was nothing short of a mental pedophile, that you don't tell your daughter her mother is as good as dead, and he needs to knock it off and he is in violation of our anti-disparagement agreement that the courts have insisted on due to the religious and personal strife between us.

kids are stupid! so adults think....my daughter was fed so much crap "your dad raped me, he hit me, he hit your granddad, he never gives me any money" not true, but all said to a five year old. shes fourteen now stll lives with her crazy mum, but saw straight through her mothers lies. the phrase she most often uses is " you know mum dad, shes mad"
so my advice ignore it as much as you can because kids are not stupid. goodluck

dropped her a line, caught up, shes got four kids (she likes sex now, told you i was ugly).

spoke to my xwife for the first time in 14yrs via facebook. we were in the witnesses together we left about twenty years ago got divorced almost straight away we were never suited i liked sex and she didn't (i'm very ugly).
anway a few years later she went back, i got the sermon of course "you should comeback its the truth" i put her straight on that one, her eyes glazed over as i spoke and she went her merry way.
14years later i pop her name into facebook there she is tattos and spouting politics animal rights (not very jw they ignore all that of course). dropped her a line, caught up, shes got four kids (she likes sex now, told you i was ugly). anway chitchatted about the witnesses, would'nt hear a word agaisnt them, encouraged her to look at this site as i belived it would help her come to terms with things, and i was told
"you need to get over it, i just put it to the back of my mind, dont think about it, i certainly wont associate with apostates....blah blah"
it made me feel really sad, because as you can see shes still in fear of big bad jehovah (as the jw's like to paint him). i really wanted to appeal to her "you dont have to worry it's not true" but it would just be wasted words hopefully she will come to terms with the situation.
when i think of the years we spent together trying to make things work, that crazy religion brain washing us.....just makes me sad that after all these years shes still trapped.
it makes me grateful to you guys who contribute to this site keep up the good work, maybe a few suggestions on how i could help my former wife who i still consider my friend (even though we hardly had sex for 10 years).

welcome to the real world.... feels good not to be a watchtower slave anymore, good luck with your situation sadly it will propably get worse before it gets better....hang in there you need to, to show your kids theres another way, just try to be long suffering with your wife, shes scared and deluded, she may come round but take it slowly as time goes by people often come round.

If the bible is god's handbook for man, why is it such gobbledegook?
by Aussie Oz ini don't mean the basic moral code of behavior (that many non biblical lands also just happen to have) that people use to model their lives, but the 'deeper' stuff.... assuming that god has had his divine plan for vindicating himself etc ever since he figured that adam may screw up, and he needed to let faithful mankind know the 'plan' and how to survive it all.... why is the important stuff all gobbledegook?.
the time frame, prophecy, signs and so on are all so obscure that even the cleverest theologians can't understand it or agree on it.
the 'truth' is so muddled and juggled up that every understanding can be logically challenged with an equally challengable one.

good question aussie oz.....i think the answer lyes in most of the answers from the "christians" yet more goobledegook. the bible like all religious books written by men to control men. my creator (if there is one) would not make it hard to understand because .....he wants me to understand.
simple.

wannabe once upon a time i would have read and understood what you were going on about, but i just haven't got the energy anymore...the only piece of advice i can offer someone like yourself, who is obviously searching for some sort of answer is, would god really make it so difficult to understand, so massively confusing, so mind bendingly frustrating....no its just people who want to make things difficult so they can ensnare sincere people like yourself whos searching for answers. look no one can lead you to god if there even is one, there may be no answer to what life is all about, just live your life enjoy it for what it is and avoid religion like the plague. good luck to you.
