  rules (speaking in the human sense) were developed since adam first met eve, and have been evolving ever since.

  many such rules eventually become laws, though most are first subsumed as "natural" behavioralism.. rules (speaking in the theistic sense) are dictated by a higher moral being.

  these rules become inexorably encrusted with age and superstition.. rules (speaking in the practical sense) are "what works for the time, and people of that time.".

  here in southern california we have been just pummeled with rain.. here is the saddest story that i have heard here.. a lady is driving her vehicle with her 2 year old, and i think a 10 and 14 year old.

  along comes a barrier, blocking people from driving through a flooded street.

  she decides to go around the barrier, and gets stuck.

  when children die because of neglect by the parents (out here its an epidemic of child drownings because of careless parents, as well as numerous cases of children being left inside cars on extremely hot days to slowly suffocate) we as a society say they have suffered enough so why punish them.

  mom deliberately and well aware of the danger crosses a barrier with her children inside, baby dies. don't punish her, she has suffered enough.

  Christianity would suvive if intelligent alien life was found, or found us, or has already found us and reveals itself. The ideological threat could even bring about a circling of the christian wagons effect. Aliens could also become the new 'pagans that must be converted w the gospel'.

  ok, now that would bother me. especially if the JW's got their claws into them. converting an advanced, intelligent race of creatures (they conquered Space travel) into a bunch of bible-thumping fundamentalists. the first thing i'd ask if i were an alien who christians were trying to convert is 'ok if your human bible is the word of the god of the cosmos, why doesn't it mention us anywhere in there'?

  The "cause", Gumby, was God's removal of his protection. He did not pick up the arm of their infant and shove it into their mouth. That was their own doing.

  um, you wouldn't leave drugs, razor blades, poison or loaded guns lying around with little ones in the house would you? if you did, you'd be accountable for their injuries, death or suffering, would you not? or would you tell the judge "that was their own doing"?

  and that's without possessing divine wisdom and knowledge of the outcome that "Jehovah" had. i mean it's right there, he predicted it! then he laid the groundwork for them to do it, to prove himself all-knowing and wise, i guess. if one of us humans pulled something like that we'd be labled "sociopaths".

  UPDATE: telling my parents I dont believe in God

  my parents have noticed my negative and sad attidude lately, whenever were going to the meetings or studying and so on.

  but they just think that i am negative and sad in general.

  i dont think they think that its spesifically because im being dragged to the meetings.. so lately we have had a lot of "serious" talks, because theyre worried for me.

  it should be most interesting.

  1 out of 3 in my actual congregation has a heavy drinking problem.

  i'd say that's the 'sin' that is way, way overlooked by the wtbts.
