When did you notice the yearly pattern of JW life?
by truthseeker inhow long was it before you became aware that your activities as a jw were the same this year as last year?.
discounting the regular "5 meetings a week" and "saturday field service", let's look at the average year in a jw's life, beginning with the september service year... september.
if you haven't been to your district convention you will this month.

i noticed it almost immediately - and not yearly, but weekly... i honestly don't know how i didn't get bored, because i'm not one to embrace structure and regimentation very well...maybe i responded to it then because i was so young and my life was in chaos. now, however, it reminds me of "A Wrinkle in Time", when Meg and her friends went to Camazotz to rescue her father. On Camazotz, the planet is dominated and controlled by this gigantic brain named IT. On this planet, everyone is the same, & everyone does the same thing in perfect unison. When they get inside the center where her father and IT are, there's a hypnotic -thump-tjump-thump- that can take over your mind if you don't fight it off...

The Slow Death of the WTS (from the WT 15 Feb 2005)
by ezekiel3 ini will defer the details of this gem to blondie when she sinks her teeth into the wt study articles scheduled for march 21-april 3. until then sample this:.

Take a moment to contemplate" exactly how desperately manipulating these articles are.
this requires very little contemplation --- the manipulation stands out very clearly; and you're right - it does sound desperate!
if misdirected, self-examination that prompts us to look for our "identity" or to search for answers outside our relationship with Jehovah or the Christian congregation will prove to be pointless and can be spiritually fatal.
every article they publish counsels readers not to think, not to examine themselves, not to trust, etc.
this clearly seems like "doublespeak":
If we begin to have disturbing questions about our Christian identity, it is time to examine closely the quality and depth of this relationship...Why is such an examination vital? Because we ourselves cannot be reliable assessors of our own deepest motives and innermost inclinations. (paragrap
how can they tell you to "examine closely" while at the same time tell you that you cannot be a reliable assessor of your own deepest motives and innermost inclinations? and..if YOU can't, who on Earth can?! this is postitively phantasmagorical...

For all the women, assuming you were a mean person like my ex , which I am sure none here are , what would you think would be reasonable for your spouse to do? I guess you may have to make two choices... 1) what if your spouse/ex-spouse is not the Daddy.... and ....2) you only ever said it to piss him off..... what would you do to make amends?
i would think that there's some truth in it somewhere...i've never said this to my son's daddy, even in the throes of an argument. and then for her to say it again in passing, well, there just doesn't seem to be any logical reason for it, unless she's trying to tell you something, or plant a seed of doubt in your mind. if it IS true, she's wronging you and your child, and if it's NOT true, she's playing some heinious headgame on you.... as for making amends, what could she say to make amends?
*tsk i read things like this and i'm ashamed to call myself a woman...errr...

hehe "numptys"...
we had a similar situation at the lake...this one brother was the most pompous long-winded windbag in the world... i swear he clicked his heels whenever he did the prayers. anyway, my little brother was sitting with me on the picnic bench...we used to talk about how funny he sounded when he led the prayers, and take turns doing impressions of him... so it had been a long trip and we were tired and hungry and brother K starts out in his big theatrical way..."(big opening breath) uh-Jehovah Goddd..." and my brother starts cracking up, then i start and soon we're both snickering, and we got chewed out for that one later. we just thought it was funny to make such a big ceremony over some humble tuna sandwiches, but i have to say, those tuna sandwiches were the best i have ever had...

Do you still Patronize Women?
by limbo ini was thinking today about how jehovah's witnesses are conditioned to view women.
i'm sure there have been many threads and discussions on this subject.
just curious how you view women now that you are no longer a jw?

Do you think that your woman (girl friend, wife, lover etc). should:
- be there when you need her
- fix you dinner
-clean up after you
-look good
-please you sexually
-andshut up when she shouldknow when to keep silent?absolutely.
and so should the man. it's all about sharing...

Let's play 'Devils Advocate'. . . . . . . . . .
by nicolaou infor the purposes of this thread i am a dub.
a 2nd generation, dyed-in-the-wool, sincere and genuine jehovahs witness (just like i used to be).
well i just feel the need to hone my debating skills after having been in a 'faded' state for quite a while.

Remember - I believe I have The Truth and that the Organization really is directed by Jehovah God. Why am I wrong?
i would just ask questions that have no answers ... to things that make no sense. because i know every witness has at least one thing that makes no sense to them...so asking them to explain something like that to you will at least get them pondering their own confusion about something, and question it, and then thinking about it...
