hey mike, i heard mullets are making a comeback :)
(glad you had a grand time, puffs - musicians are the coolest)
since i grew up in and around chicago, my husband and i decided to go see the group by the same name.
we both love their music and have been fans for years.
we finally got the opportunity to go.

this morning's paper had an article on the amish [nothing in depth, just about how they sell their wares at local markets] but it brought to mind the ideas of the amish - they want no part of the world, they don't like to call attention to themselves, don't baptize little children, and they shun those who leave the faith.
i was just wondering if anyone here could shed some light on how jws view the amish.
are they impressed?
i don't know about the amish, but they think mormons are weird and a cult. (well, my witness relatives do anyway). i think it has something to do with wedding night sheets and underwear, seriously. some mormon woman defected and wrote an expose' about it. she was from arizona too... at least the amish give you a year when you come of age to explore... what am i saying? they're ALL whacked.
well, it seems from the responses to the weekend poll that being a regular meeting attender was not a protection from apostasy!!

strange that the wts should always 'encourage' regular meeting attendance for protection.
no, i went religiously, and look @ me now :p
believe it or not i've purchased two cars (oldsmobile) through the borg connection - the circuit leasing group.
admittedly both cars were pretty reliable and pretty maintenance free.
the first car i brought from them i had to pick it up at bethel, a brother was driving it up from texas.
you will LOVE your honda. i had a honda accord and a civic and they were both excellent cars. my brother has a prlude and loves it too. they age well and are extremely reliable. but... buying from the witnesses? (shudder) :)
there are quite a number of robins who daily visit my yard.
they're here in the morning and still, or again, in the evening.
to my surprise, i learned that they just love the sprinklers in my yard.
aw, how cute. i get baby doves on my lawn... after the sprinklers run, they come and hunt for worms and insects, then they'll just sit there in the wet grass letting the water soak in. it's always the same seven baby doves. they always go everywhere together. sometimes they will try to raid the seed bag on the patio. i put out birdseed in the feeder but these guys actually post two or three sentries on the front of the patio while the other ones poke the bag with their beaks, attempting to dislodge some of the seeds. it's pretty cute to watch; they're like bird gangstas or something.
one night a couple of weeks ago it rained really hard and the yard flooded. all seven of the baby doves were blown out of the eucalyptus tree and were huddled together in a clump in a middle of the back yard in a huge puddle of water. they were too scared to move. my son and i picked them all up and put them under the pine tree and in the fountain grass. the next day they were back in my flower garden nibbling on the allysium as usual... :)
oops! just realized this was for the englishman - a thousand pardons. doh!

.
"life on mars" mmm i wonder what jws would say on the matter, maybe adam and eve visited mars( just joking).anyway what do you think, will they find life on mars.
i wonder what jws would say on the matter
personally, i don't care what they would say. jehovah's witnesses have done NOTHING to advance scientific progress in any way, shape, or form. they denounce the fields of science and medicine, yet are the first to take advantage of the advancements. anyway they would probably say it's just smoke and mirrors from the scientific community.
but it would indeed be wonderful if they even found water... and the tiniest microbe swimming in it would be terribly exciting!
finshed unpacking my miniature bottle collection and putting it on some shelves today so thought i'd post.. i started collecting miniature liquor bottles a few years ago.
a friend was selling stuff from her deceased grandmother's estate and there was this collection of around a hundred mini bottles.
i bought the bottles and got interested in the hobby.
no, but i collect bottle caps. i have all kinds. here's a cool thing you can do with bottle caps:
buy a cheap teracotta pot from target or wal-mart. spread plumber's putty on the outside, then press the bottle caps into the putty until the whole pot is covered with them. let dry and put a cool plant in it, like bamboo or a cactus. people always ask where you got the cool pot 'cause they want one :)
first of all, thanks to all the advices you sent me about having an affair with a married man.
i know that isn't a good option, but i needed to hear it from others too.
i wanted to tell you that some months ago, a jehovas witness' cousin sent me an email.
this guy's playing games with you... walk away before you get hurt. game-players are the scourge of humanity. they will take what they can from you and leave you messed up and they won't even listen to your cries as they step over your crumpled, bleeding body (figuratively speaking, of course)
reborn,.
you have the fire inside needed to take the jw's down.
however, i was wondering, what fuels your anger?
My mother believes I am an apostate and an abomination, and told me to my face how I was not the son she raised and how it would have been better had I not been born.
any woman who would say this to her precious child does not deserve the honorable title of "mother".
i was raised in a larger city congregation.
there were many black and white families and there were other nationalities in the area.for the most part, i do not recall seeing obvious prejudice manifest in the congregation.
have you seen or experienced prejudice from congregation members?
no, never overt signs... but i have also never seen a black or hispanic elder, and i live in the southwest. also, my sister, her husband and niece, all practicing jw's, are very prejudiced. they make very snide, prejudicial remarks all the time about blacks, which i won't repeat here, but i did actually order my niece out of my house one time for speaking that way in front of my son. disgusting little hypocrites...
