does anybody here smoulder incense?
i recently got a charcoal burner and various resins to try.
favourite at present being frankincense.. my house is absolutely fogged out today, the cats are staring at me with a curious glaze across their faces.. the resin based incense is far more potent than the standard sticks i used to burn and has a really pleasant smell.

i would like to write to you..
in my part of the world, it *usually* snows in the winter time.
also, because of that fact that it usually snows, dubs were inclined to hope for no snow at christmas time.. they felt that it was a good thing and would ruin christmas for those celebrating it if it didn't snow.. (at least thats how i interped the remarks i heard.).
how did you feel about a white christmas when you were a dub?.

we never thought about the weather in terms of ruining it for the worldlies. we went up to the mountains every chance we got and played in the snow. there was one place in particular that was actually a dry lake bed and which was excellent for inner-tubing. then we would drive higher into the san francisco peaks and ride the ski lifts to the top and play some more. of course i was always curious as to what lay behind the next turn, so i went off the beaten path and sledded down and down and got my momentum going and hit a huge bump in the road and veered off into another direction and faster and faster i went. finally i stopped. i got up, brushed off the snow and knelt down to look at some little blades of grass growing through the snow. i thought wow that's pretty weird and as i tried to grasp them i realized they were actually the tops of pine trees far below me, and that i was at the edge of a cliff. that's when i realized how close i had come to oblivion. fortunately i found my way back after hiking for a while and calling out. i'm glad it was a bright sunny day. naturally my experience turned into an object lesson on what happens when you stray. sheesh.
i read a few apostate books during my research as a jw...after confessing in private to a best friend that i'd read them i got snitched on and they ran and told the elders....prats!
this led to a judicial and a 6 month probation, wasnt allowed to do carpark duty (sobs) or michrophone duty (baawl) for 6 months nor could i answer up at meetings which led to tongue wagging, could go on doors though... a bit strict huh.. also know of a 6 year old who handed in her dad for speaking to apostates!

right before i disassociated myself last march, i sent an email to quite a number of jw's that contained only a link to an "apostate" website that had been instrumental in my seeing the the truth about the wt.. well, nobody responded to it except for one person, a guy who i hadn't had any contact with my last year in.
he started out with "yikes, do you know i'm disfellowshipped?
" he then went on for several paragraphs defending the org, how loving the brothers were when they disfellowshipped him .
Regardless, he still is part of a composite "Watchtower defender" that lives in my head and causes me quite a bit of anxiety at times.
first of all, you are not a coward, and i'm glad you realize that after reading the other posts. you are wise because you realize that engaging in any kind of "debate" with someone like that is an exercise in futility. but don't let someone like that take up valuable real estate in your head either - they just don't deserve it. walking away from something like that doesn't mean you're weak it just means you refuse to give that person any of your time or energy, especially when you could be spending it on something that makes you feel good, instead of feeling anxious.
