The hands on the clock are relentless. Each second the Earth spins closer to oblivion. There will be no escaping this fate. Scientists estimate that approximately 5 billion years from now the sun will deplete its fuel reserves. In its death throes, the star that brings life to the Earth will expand into a red giant. The sun will consume Mercury, Venus and the Earth. This truly will be the end of the world.

Did you pray because you felt like it or because you were told to?
by JH inwitnesses pray many times a day.
at the field service, at the meetings, before each meal and even more.. i don't know if you're like me, but i didn't pray because i felt like it, but because i was told to.. personally, 1 long honest prayer a week would have been much better than 20 routine prayers.
did you feel that it was natural to pray 3 times a day or more?.

i prayed all the time because i felt closer to Jehovah and found comfort in doing so. i was very devout.
(now i never pray, even if the seas get rough...)

What's "OK" in the JW org. today that was "wrong" just a few years ago?
by JH ini remember about 15 years ago, most jw's didn't have the cable, but today most of them have the cable.
what was wrong or borderline then is ok today.
give examples of what's "ok" today compared to "not ok" years ago.

Why Do People Become/Stay As Jehovah's Witnesses???
by minimus inwhat makes a person leave their religion and join the witnesses?
what makes a doubter or better yet a jw that knows this isn't really the truth, remain a witness?
i believe most stay on because being a witness is like being a member of a club.

Many people first become interested in WT teachings during a crisis period of life.
uh-huh. the very week my father died, hmm a knock on the door and whattya know, a whole herd of jw's... well, a sister, an ms and a bunch of kids. (i sometimes suspect they peruse the obituaries then "happen to be in the neighborhood...)
then once they get you dependent on the org, well, it's too late...

Meet Your Neighbor--Thomas Windley!
by Voyager inthis one comes from (sun news), the thread is incomplete at the end, but here is the story anyway.. one of the first things i thought about when i read this article, was how many jws i knew who were (not) permitted to have (federal) or government jobs in times past.
i also wondered how many social security numbers this guy may have sent to the watchtower at their request, violating privacy regulations.
scroll down:.
