and despite all my fears, she took it very calm, and then told my dad whos also taking it calm, and it doesnt seem like theyre hating me now or want to throw me out of the house.. the thing is.

congratulations on your courage! that took a lot to be honest with your parents. i'm sure they are hoping that studying with this brother will "turn you around", and i'm sure they are all talking about you and the best way to get you away from "evil apostates", because they really believe it is Satan. if you do decide to take them up on their "3 month" offer , i hope you still do some research on your own so that you can make a fully informed decision. stay strong!
i was watching an old eddie murphy hbo special a few weeks ago where he was talking about relationships.
in his bit, he went off on how all men cheat on their wives and girlfriends.
he was adamant that even the nicest of guys will take the opportunity to cheat if given the chance and that women need to understand that this is the way it is, 100% of the time.

i have a cousin, who i feel, was greatly responsible for me ceasing to believe in jw teachings.
besides showing me the "light" he is a very wise and kind person and deserves my respect.. he always stressed that humans are inhently selfish.
while i was a jw i quickly passed his thoughts as being too independant of "god".
no, humans are not inherently selfish. if we were, we wouldn't get up every morning and make the world a better, safer and more comfortable place...we'd all be lookin' out for number one and tell the rest of the world to piss off. it would be like in "mad max", or sumthin..

consider that they are just human and have the same paternal instincts as most people do, the desire to be a mom & dad, to hold a lil bundle of joy, or to nurse and care for a child etc their doctrine and faith is one of honesty and trust and will install in a child the values of keeping the law, avoiding such things as drug abuse, theft and harming others.. .

if a judge asked me to help him decide, i would tell him/her truthfully everything that happened to me and to people who i knew, and what i know about Jehovah's Witnesses as a group and how as a group they view and treat children, then let him or her decide...

"fear only fear itself", is a maxim that i regularly used to use, until the habit became ingrained.. it was truly liberating.
i offer it only because it personally helped me.
irrational fear is all in your mind. healthy fear, say, of getting burned, keeps you from thrusting your hands into a furnace. i just finished watching that film "The Village", and 1/3 of the way through, i guessed what was behind the mystery and as i continued to watch i found myself becoming more and more enraged and at the end all i could think of was "the witnesses do this", though not to this degree, but if they had the means, i don't doubt for one second that they wouldn't. yes, fear itself is definitely something to fear.

Bush is so slow to act without proof in this instance, yet pushed us into a war with no proof of weapons of mass destruction or that Iraq was responsible for the Twin Towers, or a threat to the United States (and the rest of the world).

If we are products of evolution (as many contend) and are thus animals, than we as a race are doing exactly what "evolution" has destined we should do. We are a destructive (although destructive is relative, are termites destructive- or just doing their job?) species and will in time "run our course" and disappear just like the deenosaurs. We are not stewards of this planet, merely PART of the bio/eco system on it. And as such owe no apologies for being at the top of the food chain (I don't actually believe this- purely a thought).
um, we are indeed stewards of this planet, and as such we have a responsibility to use its resources carefully and replenish what we take, not squander it. what will we leave for future genrations if we don't?
