this concept is not just restricted to the anointed ones,it applies to all christians.everyone needs to be transformed from the 'old ways' of living to one that is led by the holy spirit at whatever levels that one is able to attain..

like i can understand why you would write god with a big 'g', but whats up with writing he or him or the holy one or lord or whatever?.
I dislike saying "Jehovah" now so much. It's just a way for the Witnesses to say "Lookie us, lookie here, we're different, we're better than you and we have this oddball name!"
okay...i'm a hardcore skeptic and i admit it.
i have no use for the supernatural at all.. having said that though, once in a great, great while i'm truly, honestly stumped.
one instance was a book i read in the early 1970's entitled, arigo: surgeon of the rusty knife.
There are forms of healing that Western medicine hasn't yet accepted or understands, but I don't automatically dismiss them as fake, because Western medicine has some real problems of it's own. A good percentage of the research we base medicine on is flawed or incomplete, according to a well know writer David H. Freedman.
It's not flawless, and it's good to be open to alternatives if the work. 30 years ago, acupuncture was voodoo but it's accepted medicine now. So was hypotherapy.
We can't be static in our learning, stay open, keep questioning. That's what a real skeptic does.
I'll take a hug, some bread and a fish, but do I have to convert? I hate my dinner and hugs bein held hostage by a sermon, the Church Potluck Dinner ploy.
I say we eat first, then listen and if you can't get it said in 10 minutes, I'll be asleep anyway.

I'm great at thinking outside the box, but we sort of need language conventions, within reason, or Yu wood not bee Abble to unnerstan mi wun I rite two gud. LOL
i notice a lot of the discussions seem to be atheist vs christian here.
or is that just my perception?.

Big mac...ask an atheist. Among the ones I know, I've seen some variety of definition, which just goes to show you how diverse people are, even if you lump them together.

LOL I lack the desire to be totally rational, and I admit it. It's because I'm doubtful everything can be explained by rational means, as we don't know the limits or extents of rationality or science.
I love science, and read it extensively, teach it to my children, teach them what I know, which includes evolution of course, and yet I'm cautious as to the limits of science, especially currently, because we're just scratching the surface of the really deep stuff, like quantum physics.
I just want to be open to when the limits of our knowledge change. I don't want to be Simon Newcomb, a noted astronomer doubting whether heavier than air flight was possible in 1906, when he'd been seeing birds fly all his life, or Sir Harold James Spencer not believing that heavier than space flight is impossible two weeks before the launch of Sputnik or Einstein boggling over Schroedinger's cat.

I dislike being villanized for asking questions by being called a "doubter" or an "unbeliever" also.
I am a skeptic, but willing to believe if given enough reason to.
