Question about your spouse or ex
by bluecanary ini've noticed we have a few male posters here with wives who are still in the jws.
and i can think of one female poster (cognac) with a husband in the jws (although things are looking up for her).
of course we have a few spouses that came out together.. is it me, or does it seem like the women here are more likely to have divorced their jw husband--even before leaving--whereas the men are more likely to stay with their wives?

My sister died in a head on collision last night
by Bumble Bee ini still can't believe it.
she was here for the bbq, we had an awesome time, laughing, her telling stories from our childhoods.
i gave her a hug and told her i loved her before she left.

Does marriage work
by wouldacouldashoulda inhi posters.

maybe around half of those who stay married are not really that happy.. .

Yes, it works beautifully if you pick the right one. Like others mentioned being friends first is key!
My husband and I have been through the worse 2 years of our lives. If I didn't have him I seriously believe I wouldn't have made it through.
He totally took on the role of mother , father, cook, and house cleaner when mentally I couldn't do any of it.
Like they say sometimes you don't know how strong your marriage is until somthing happens to test it.
I couldn't imagian not having him in my life.
For us Marriage works.

Question for Faders.....
by lepermessiah indid you all start getting the "full court press" from "friends" to start doing more things socially as you began your fade?.
i havent been invited to do a whole lot the last few months, but now all of a sudden i am getting phone calls and invites to do things.
fortunately, it hasnt been - "hey lets go out in field service" or anything like that since i would tell them to take a hike (which at this point means make myself busy at work or otherwise) .

Okay all of a sudden in the last couple of weeks I'm getting alot of sisters dropping in to say hello and ask how we are doing, it's kinda weird all of a sudden.
We have been inactive for at least 6 months haven't been to a meeting for at least 3 months. No calls no visits nothing! Now 3 visits in two weeks? What's up? Should I be worried?

Feeling numb... feeling like I did when I first DAed.
by Elsewhere inmy dad recently told all the kids that he has terminal cancer.
he is going to die... could be in a month... could be in a year.. all the kids recently visited my parents over last weekend.
i was allowed to come too due to the "family business" clause in the wts rules.. yesterday i cried... i'm still crying a bit today and am feeling numb.

Really sorry to hear of your situation.
I never had to deal with watching a family member deal with cancer, not to mention the added stress of the shunning issue so I can't say I know what your going through and give you any pearls of wisdom.
I will say it looks form reading the above posts you have some good support and a lot of thoughts and prayers going your way. Mine included

Funny thing was when my husband and I watched what had happened to Taylor.
I thought what a drunk jerk!! My husband said it was racist (he's black) I'm not.
He said it could have been Milli Vanilli up their and he wouldn't have done that! But, because she was young and white he knew she wouldn't know how to handle that situation.
I have to say, I agree now.

We went to the meeting last night...
by cognac inwe rarely go.
but, we went because hubby wanted to tell the elders we are switching halls.. at first, i thought to myself that i would go out back with her when she gets fussy.
but, my baby doesn't really get fussy a lot so i just took her out back and played with her as she laughed hysterically.

All JW's know we are encouraged to to keep the babies quite or take them to the back room.
I noticed some parents would rather be in the back room hanging out with the other mothers(that was me) Others took the hard approach of insisting
their baby get trained to sit quite for 2 hours if it meant whacking them on their little legs as needed then so be it.
I remember one mother who was really against hitting her children absolutely lose it at one meeting when she seen that sister whacking her baby, she got up and walked over to one of the elders tapped him on the shoulder and pointed to the back of the hall. It was the drama of the new mothers in that hall.

Very happy for her family.
I hope this brings some closure for them.
I remember her one of her sisters posting somewhere that they where going to fight for her sister, and that they did.

Toxic Family - Why Are You So Selfish?
by shamus100 init never ceases to amaze me how many people are succumbing to low-self esteem by allowing toxic family members dictate their lives, and sit by like sheepish puppy-dogs while they get berated and told that they are basically crowfood shit.
"oh, i'm just trying to keep the peace", some may say.
i say you need to go on the offensive.
