this is a true story, more than 10 years ago, i went to the memorial and there was a very hot bible student female.
we met each other, she gave me her phone number.

We called the elders over for comfort and support after we found out our child was molested, instead they questioned our scared child for over an hour asking the most inappropriate questions, questions that would make your stomach turn. It was the worse evening, aside from when we first found out.
Even after a few years I still recall every moment of that evening.
Never again!
i am so thrilled to find this forum.
it is such a relief to know that all of us 'apostates' are normal people who had the nerve to question what has been crammed down our throats.. i am 4th generation ex-jw with family members at bethel, doing missionary work, and pioneering.
even though i have been out for almost 20+ years, i still had guilt admitting to myself that this was a cult-like organization until just recently.
You will find some very loving and helpful people here that will say just the right things at the right time. I know I have.

new arrangement for hand-drying at district conventions.
in our efforts to simplify arrangements and reduce costs, the society is pleased to announce a new arrangement that will take effect at the annual district conventions starting with the keep on the watch even longer convention in the summer of 2010. the society needs to carefully allocate its resources so that the worldwide work can continue to grow and that the society can defend itself from legal challenges instigated by our opposers.. effective this summer, the number of paper towels allowed per visit in the restrooms at convention sites will be reduced from one to zero.
we do not think our dear brothers and sisters will notice the difference.

I could use all the advice I can get. I'm trapped in the "WOE IS ME" stage..
so it appears that jws are letting their freaky side come out on fb for everyone to see.. there was talk on the ca yesterday strongly warning all true lovers of jehovah to delete their fb accounts.
the talk was solely about fb.
the speaker mentioned that jws are associating with people that would not associate with in real life, often using the excuse that the person is a relative.
I guess the talk was given in our area as well.
I was checking out some of the JW's facebook pages and one commented that "many friends have suddenly left facebook."
there are many newcomers who may see references on this website to barbara anderson but not understand the complete awesomeness of what she has done, and continues to do, in the pursuit of truth.. for those who don't know, a brief summary: barbara and her husband joe spent most of their lifetime being uber-witnesses, bringing 80 or so people into the organization and ending up at brooklyn bethel.

As a mother of a victim of molestation within the WTS, I think what you have done and continue to do is so wonderful. I hope someday my child will be as strong as you have been in speaking out . I also look forward to one day in the near future hearing the WTS apologise for how they have treated victims (I really think it will happen) and when it does, it will be because of loving people like you.
hey folks, i thought i'd come on here with a quick update of something really cool on youtube.
there was a woman named smagisa who is an active jw that goes on youtube and basically does all the stereotypical things responding to videos.
everyone talking bad about the organization is speaking bad against god and only doing so because they're disfellowshipped or whatever.
Thank you so much for sharing this. My child is a victim of molestation within the Org and these video's brought me to tears. It felt so good to hear those standing up for us!
My husband and I just felt such peace listening to those video's knowing that we are not alone in what we have been through and how we see things. It's just so awesome to know, unlike years before where victims had to remain silent and suffer in silence we now have so much support and so many people who know what we feel and what we are going through.
It's just so comforting :)

so my 13 year old daughter and i have been watching the news all day about haiti.
because i've been talking about it since it happened she is now asking questions.
so today we talked and i made sure she saw on tv the map of where haiti is and how difficult this is going to be and is for relief efforts due to it being on a island etc..........then i saw where you could safely text a ten dollar donation.
I did the same thing with the kids yesterday.
It felt good to do something that will actually help the people of Haiti with what they really need at this time.
does anyone know exactly what the society has said on the twilight movies?
is it a matter of conscience or a real no-no?
my children are witnesses, i am df'd so i can't say anything, but one of them indulges in these movies and books-the baptized one who won't visit me or talk to me unless absolutely necessary.
Well, my daughter loves the books and movies. Her classmate, who is an elders daughter is allowed to read the books, but is not allowed to watch the movies??
i was reading an article from a magazine quoting consumer reports saying that most infomercials say that their products are so much better than another but the reality is often it's not true.. i'm curious; did you ever buy something because of an infomercial?
