Makes me sick every time I hear of these cover ups!! Victims are re-victimized by this crazy idea of protecting a church, KH ect.. Instead of protecting the children :( It really turns me off from ever having a part of organized religion ever again. Don't get me wrong..I don't blame God for what has happened to our family, but I certainly blame the MEN who feel the need to protect grown men and women over victims and their families.

I have a touchy situation...could use some advice
by tenyearsafter ini just got an e-mail from my 80 year old mother asking my wife and i to join her for the memorial this year.
i really don't want to go, but i am also trying to maintain some degree of a relationship with her.
she is breaking the "rules" by not shunning me, but i don't know how she will react if i reject her invitation.

It's only an hour..I say make the mom happy and keep the peace. Now if she comes back with the special talk invitation just make plans in advance and tell her you already have plans for that weekend.

I had my kids watch this Big Blank Deal and explained how important it is for so many people.
I'm thrilled my mother/sister/nephew will now have health insurance and I don't mind one bit paying more taxes for it.

That's why they have phone and letter writing! No need for anyone on a sex offender list to go to my door. They can do pioneer hours without being tempted beyond what they can control or take the chance of some vigilante taking matters into their own hands when they see someone on their list knocking on their door.

wt society cannot and will not ever admit their faults regarding child abuse they failed to report.. in the sacramento bee article today it quoted cardinal sean brady as saying " he was " ashamed " of the role he played decades ago in handling accusations of child sexual abuse against a priest who went on later to sexually assault scores of children, and hinted that he might bow to calls for his resignation.
brady stated , " i want to say to anyone who has been hurt by any failure on my part that i apologize to you with all my heart.

This brings up something that we had happen to us recently. We are a mixed race family and we enjoyed taking the kids to a local restaurant that serve awesome burgers...
Anyways after making about the third trip to this restaurant I noticed that no matter what time of day or night we went we would get seated in the back near the restroom I ignored it on that visit but it's just something I noticed...so a month or so passes and the kids want to go again so this time I told my husband...watch where they seat us..so we walk in and yup!! we are headed in the same direction yet again, it was so bad that the kids noticed that we always get the same seat. I finally said we would like to be seated somewhere else, which they did with no problem. Well on the next visit..you guessed it back to the seat by the restroom!!
My husband had enough and sent a letter to the company and they wrote back apologizing and sending a free meal for the family. We also got a letter from the manager of the restaurant again apologizing and sending us another free meal.
So we gave it another chance...we walked in and were pleasantly surprised to be seated right in the front. I noticed more families or color in the front seats as well.
Sadly, even in 2010 we still have to deal with this stuff, but at least now we can speak up and get action.

Judical Committee- FUBAR decisions
by Think About It ini had posted this as part of another thread, but thought it might make a good separate thread.
here's a jc fubar decision that i experienced.. i dealt with a brother who threatened to kill his family, my family, and then himself.
this guys' secret sins were becoming manifest and as an elder some things came to my attention, including wife abuse and according to her, allegations of possible misconduct with the young daughter.

What you posted brought me right back to the questioning of my child, just a few years ago. I couldn't believe how many times they asked her what she was wearing at the time of her molestation along with many other inappropriate questions.
It's disgusting how they treat victims, it truly is.

Our favorite thing to do was pull our chairs right into the water (calm) and enjoy watching the kids snorkel right around us.
