My RC hearing brought forward. Will be in two weeks

through this forum of wonderful freaks, i have met someone who is coming with me to my hearing.

initially i was slated for next year, but will be attending in two weeks time.

all is in place from travel vouchers, support, where to go ............very efficient and well done.

i spent some time here awhile back as an unbelieving mate of a jw wife.

i learned a lot, and was able to be supportive and understanding when she decided to leave the jw.. unfortunately, my son seems to have internalized many of the jw teachings.

Absolutely, my young adults are struggling as well. Both in different ways but each need therapy and medication.

You can leave a cult physically, but it can take years mentally.

What did you have for Christmas dinner?

my inlaws are polish, though my husband is a 3rd generation american, but the food traditions have stuck around.. we have christmas eve dinner starting with red beet soup with sour cream, pierogies filled with mashed potatoes or saurkraut, ham, polish sausage sliced and cooked with saurkraut, turkey (that part is american), krischickies (likely spelled wrong) which are crispy pastries dipped in powdered sugar, and apple pie (also american.).

there are goodnatured threats toward bad children who may need to get their dupa busted (butt spanked) and therefore santa will bring figismachen.

i also love golabkis (ground beef and rice wrapped in cabbage leaves), but these were not served this time.

We have my families favorite meal, slow cooks carnitas with homemade beans and Spanish rice.

We've learned from Thanksgiving that were not the traditional Turkey dinner and all its fixings kind of family.

wow, 4 years!

it has been a real journey.

going from a devout jw, to having a close call with a loved one possibly needing a transfusion, to researching the heck out of everything, to letting it rest and go back to sleep for a while, to moving states and almost going crazy knowing all the bs they were speaking from the platform.

Shocking!! I'm so upset that young girls parents didn't protect their child! I can only imagine how scared and alone she must have felt living with those thoughts:(

This piece on crap could have easily killed any of his victims. I can't believe he only got 5 years???

The X-Mas thing...

christmas means nothing to me.

i have no abiding, cosy, childhood memories of it.. i don't buy presents or cards....i have to be reminded.. i feel a bit weird.

people are celebrating and saying: 'i'm feeling christmassy.'.

I'm in it for the wonderful smells and the beautiful decorated trees :) I've always been attracted to the Christmas time of year and always secretly hummed along to the dreaded songs.

I'm having a great time with it, even though I bought my first real tree a little to early and it starting to die. I'm just hoping it last til Friday.

let me start with a disclaimer: i am in no way minimizing the horrific crimes done to children by pedophiles.

i'm not downplaying the number of lives lost due to the blood issue, or hearts broken because of shunning.

i do not want to discount the feelings of those who have come to the end of their lives with expectations of paradise postponed.. but to me the biggest atrocity committed by this awful cult is raising children from a small age to believe that soon god will kill billions of people.

I completely agree.

I have two young adults, one who was abused sexually by a ex elder and both abused mentally by the religion.

They both suffer with depression and anxiety, both are in therapy. One outwardly shows the issues while one prefers to keep it all inside. This religion really does a number on the youth...but we're not going down without a fight! They will lead normal lives one day. I'm a determined mom.
