Shared Child Abuse News with JW about Nancy Garrido being a JW
by flipper inwent to the post office the other day and saw this older jw , an elder, was outside holding the wall up leaning on it while being frozen standing there like a mannequin holding watchtowers and awakes .
i had one of my news releases from a sociologist explaining that phillip garrido used nancy garrido and the jehovah's witnesses to get out of prison so he could have access to children for sexual crimes ; thus enabling him in 1991 to kidnap jaycee dugard.
the title of the article is : " sex offender phillip garrido used jehovah's witnesses to get early parole ".

Anybody see Oprah tonight?
by ShirleyW inshe had on the children of the mother and father who kidnapped elizabeth smart.
interesting to hear them say that when they were growing up they were raised in a religious household, how they were only allowed to watch national geographic shows, how the mother (and stepfather) physically/mentally abused them.
the kids have nothing to do with mom now, one son even mentioned he saw her at the mall and wanted his mom to meet her grandson but she stepped away and wouldn't acknowledge them, stepfather showed nude pictures to one of the daughters while the children had to do their required two hours of praying everyday .

Yes, I seen it. It was pretty sad. They mentioned they were Mormon and how they were treated completely different at home then they were out in the public. I seen many similarities to some of the stories I have read here and seen with my own eyes regarding JW's. I think it's all about looking good to those who don't really matter for a pat on the back and treating the ones your suppose to love as disposable and unworthy. So backward, if you ask me
I felt really sorry for the eldest daughter who wanted so bad to remember the good times with her mom while the other couldn't stand the woman.

How SAFE are children in the Kingdom Hall?
by wobble inthis topic is prompted by the recent one on abuse being an isolated incident.. the thread title is not that good, i mean to ask, how safe in the entire org.. the charities commission publishes these instructions for implementation here in the u.k :.
"procedures and systems provide clear step-by-step guidance on what to do in different circumstances and they clarify roles and responsibilities.
systems for recording information and dealing with complaints are also needed to ensure implementation and compliance.

I know children are not safe in the KH.
I personally saw a molester who was out of jail on a million dollar bail awaiting trial sitting at the KH twice a week all smiles as his daughter brought little ones to sit on her lap right next to him. Of course the parents had no idea of what was going on. When I asked one of the elders if they knew of this man being out on bail? They said they did, and they were watching him closely.
Yeah Right!! That's watching him closely??

Flipper
by asilentone inobviously, most of us know that flipper always respond to everybody's posts everytime he starts a topic, i think he is the only one on this board that will respond to everyone in his own threads.
i would think it would be too much work for me or anyone here on this board to respond to everyone.
is that a good thing or bad thing?

Mixed bag for me as well. I get some that are happy to see me, then I get some that turn their head a pretend not to see me. I embarrassed one elder completely when he tried to avoid me. I marched on up to him and spoke as loudly as possible so others around us turned around..LOL.
He may think twice about it next time. Just a smile and wave would have avoided it.

Do Most Pedophiles Use Religion as Their Cover?
by cameo-d inas children, we were always taught not to accept candy from strangers and not to ride with strangers.
however, it seems that the danger most always comes, not from a stranger, but from someone the child knows.. one day we headed to the school bus stop knowing we were 'almost' late.
we waited and waited.

I think religion is a great cover for pedophiles. I mean were else would they have access to trusting parents and tons of little kids. Not to mention the single mothers who enjoy a fellow believer showing interest in their children and offering much needed help :(
