  After twenty years of marriage…

  i just got a call from a friend who informed me that a brother whom i've known for a while and is an elder, just found out last night that his wife of 20+ years declared she was gay, and left him..

  i still need to confirm but my friend is very reliable and was close friends with the family.

  heres the thing, she spent 20+ years with this man, has children with him and now decides she wants to follow her heart.

  I was just going to say the single sisters will be making their concern known😉

  I've been married 20 + years and I think I would be very upset at first, but as time passed I would be understanding and accepting.

  of course, most of us realize this.

  however sometimes even on this board sometimes threads have stated that the jw elders have been occasionally painted as the " fall guys " who take the rap for the wt society leaders - which of course is true - to a degree.

  however- that being said , many times elders have failed to protect - or even have failed to advocate for child abuse victims when it has been within their power to do so.

  Is this yet another case involving Compos or is this the Jose Lopez case?

  There truly is a lot to say when it comes to the written communication between the elders and WT society in these cases. It makes it clear that their main concern is how to keep the scandle as quite as possible. No mention of how to help the victims at all :(

  Would you warn your neighbors if a child molester lived on your street?

  just found out that someone who lives 4 doors down was convicted of molesting a 4 year old child twice.

  the second time was after he was arrested and released on bond from the first arrest.

  having two 4 year old children living in my home, i am concerned.

  I don't consider myself a busybodies nor a do gooder but if I can save one family from going through what my family has.... I would.

  There is a reason the sex offender list is public. Of course you shouldn't plaster someone's face or name but you could simple advise your neighbors to check the list.

  Has Gerrit Loesch of the Governing Body been in any more monthly broadcast since he refused to honor a court subpoena?

  he denied being in subjection to the the watchtower corporation so are they still using him in their regular monthly broadcast.

  this is a bizarre story.. there is a woman who is the local leader of the naacp who is obviously trying to mislead people into believing she is black who is actually white.

  very white.. she obviously gets a tan regularly but looks more orange.

  Who cares!! I mean seriously if no one has been harmed by this, what's the big deal??

  We all have been part of a religion that dictated the way we should dress, behave, judge, shun, love and hate. I for one am thankful for the freedom to just let people be who they choose to be as long as they aren't hurting anyone.

  Absolutely. Hand out a flyer asking neighbors to check Megan's law or the sex offender list for your neighborhood. They will get the point and watch their children carefully.

  By the way, how would this effect the Lopez judgement?

  In this case the WTS was thrown out of court for refusing to turn over the list of known molesters after two separate courts ordered them to do so.

  I'm sure Zelkin will know how to defend this judgement. But again....it's a marathon.

  This is just the first step and it's actually not over yet. The Supreme Court could take this case.

  Time will tell...it's a marathon not a race :)

  well, i don't wanna rant too much but sometimes things cut you don't they.. a family member had a get together for the family, jw and non jw and of course i wasn't invited being da'd.. i understand why they couldn't invite me but it just made me think.

  in normal society this wouldn't happen.

  i'd have been there.. the shunning is so unnatural and damaging.
