He doesn't mind if a Tsunami he chooses to let happen kills Japanese, Indonesians or Thais. Same with Earthquakes - Haitians, Italians, Nepalese - he's not fussed which nation or race they come from.
He doesn't lift a fat finger for any of them.
...recently.. i'm normally pretty calculated.
my fade is done, my wife is out, my family and friends know, i maintain quite abit of the friendships of those closest to me jw or not, my family isn't shunning, and the few people we have kept it from for other reasons we are calculating how to break it.
(elderly matriarch that we are simply not going to tell so she doesn't die).. but.....all these facebook meme's and stupid feeds about reliance on jehovah, distraction, staying close to his organization, persevering against satan.....its driving me nuts.
i need to change congregation but stay living in the same place.
any experience with this.
In the UK if you're in a city or big town with more than a couple of congregations in a small area there is often cross-pollenation and no-one worries. When our old congregation split in 1998 I was asked to be an elder in a "the other half" to the one I lived in just to balance up the numbers of elders a bit.
id wonder how many wives of servants had the upper hand so to speak, on issues, that of course, were supposed to be private, yet gee lets be honest, husbands and wives talk.

I never divulged anything about judicial (I hate that word now) stuff or private counsel but I would offload about petty squabbles on the body of elders like one time when the service overseer tried to ban the congregation offering any literature other than what was in the kingdom ministry for that month.
Or the power tripping Presiding Overseer argued with the School Overseer about whether teenagers could give talks in their school blazers or not. (In the UK some schools have their pupils wear a school blazer/jacket with a school crest/logo/badge sewn on the pocket.) Some poorer families - it was the only jacket their kids would have and the PO said it was disrespectful and the School Overseer told him to stop making rules.
I told her those squabbles before pouring myself a stiff one.

i see the pressure this cult is putting on my family.
Sorry you're hurting cookie but you won't bring them down. Don't waste your life trying. Now trying to get a loved one out - that is a worthwhile endeavour.
so last night they played the convention cartoon.
there were a few laughs from the audience, overall though people seemed a little taken aback and tight lipped.
like no one gushed about it afterwards, no applause, just like it was nothing new at all.
i don't know where to start.
i got married a year and half ago.
some months into the marriage things where discovered.
PLAYGROUND, Playground, playground...
I was an elder for twenty years. I have been married for twenty five years. I know how it works. Here is my advice for what it is worth.
Do not go back to this man. Listen. I said do not go back to this man. Really listen. Do not go back to this man.
Escape - and never go back to this man. Did you hear me? Leave the area. Do not go to the elders - move congregations. Get a cheap room to live in, get a job. Shut the door in the evening, sit in your comfy chair watch the TV and enjoy the peace. Bored? Lonely? Get another job. Volunteer. Make new friends.
Get support here. We are all crazy from the jw religion but most of us mean well and want to help.
Did I say leave this man and don't go back? If I didn't then I'm telling you to leave this man and don't go back.
Oh and any hassle go to the police. Forget this don't bring reproach rubbish, just do it. Each and every time.

Dear Jehovah, please keep the brothers and sisters in the organizational ark. Help them not to stray into the nets of the birdcatcher. We know that apostates are against us but they cannot prevail if we keep close to the organization.
Your heavenly chariot moves at a fantastic pace and we must keep up! Not doubting at all and we ask your blessing on all the bethelites kicked to the kerb err ... volunteering for missionary positions .... errr missionary work because we know they will keep warm and well fed.
Help us build up treasures in heaven, not more kingdom halls and branch offices because we know your son had nowhere to lay his head ... hang on a minute who put that in the script ... I mean even the small amount given by the widow means much to you so how much more would extra dollars mean if we put those in? What's that? Pounds - yes pounds here in the UK - they're bigger than dollars, give us pounds. Yes let us pour out our genuine nard meaning all our worldly resources on the feet of the governing body to help the worldwidework.

Is that an "overlapping" two years - in which case it needs to be three and a half or even four years.

i just got word that the brothers of my congregation is "encouraged to attend a special meeting" this saturday.
i was told to bring the od book, and the 9/15/14 and 4/15/15 study wts.
judging by the articles in those, it's going to be another guilt trip to get all us dead-beat kids in our 20s and 30s to "reach out" to be jr. cult leaders.
Yep , attended one of those about three years after resigning as an elder - along with two other "deleted" elders an aging MS and about six others that either can't hold down a job, can't get out of bed, or are depressed. Or clever.
Basically it was you need to be averaging 8 to 10 hours minimum, be early for all the meetings and be "visible" in ministry.
This is why my report was always put in at 5 to 7 hours - just enough to be allowed (gasp) to run a microphone - better than sitting still through an hour and a half of drone and moan - but not enough to read the watchtower.
Really they had a hierarchy.
Anyone could clean the hall (of course) even on restrictions.
Then:
Irregular up to 4 hours nothing/zippo/nada - oh you could bring some oldie in your car to the hall especially if they stank of urine.
5/6 hours - run a microphone, be an assistant to an assistant on the hall dept
7 hours - read at the cong book err bible study - be an assistant on a department or (if you had enough fingers that worked) operate the sound equipment desk
8 hours - read the watchtower! Yay! Stand in as an exemplary brother for an MS department because they never had enough. Often an ex elder who toed the line.
9/10 hours - be considered for MS if you could get to all the meetings early and if you were visibly supporting your group in first call while the elder left after fifteen minutes to do calls.
I don't know about now but they are pretty desperate - I'm sure some of the guys used are hardly regular.
