i understand that many on this forum are undertaking a slow fade, over months, years even.. can i ask what is the benefit of that instead of a fast fade?.
as i understand it, the elders only have to deal judicially with people who are still active witnesses, known in the community as witnesses, having contact and influence with witnesses etc.
so surely the sooner you stop attending meetings the better.
The old "write this in the margin but it's not official" game (elders book) that we got from the CO from time to time at elders meetings said 2/3 years of inactivity was about right for not chasing up "serious wrongdoing" unless it disturbed the congregation. (italics mine)
But if there is a spouse in who wants to remarry "scripturally" beating the drum and getting the elders to dance that can extend for many years - even for life!

Sister mega-mag route pioneer doesn't need to place a bazillion mags each month. She can place tracts and "video showings" it still goes to her placements and looking good on her report.

You cannot (officially) be df'd for associating with DF'd - especially when it was an urgent and extremely private financial/business matter which it was of course!
But ... there is the "catch all" brazen conduct and causing divisions which can be wheeled out by zealot elders to back up their action by stating you are disturbing the peace of the congregation. You will also get stick for publicly meeting and eating with said df'd person.
If you want to tell'em to do one and take the consequences of shunning and initial loneliness (it can hit you like a ton of wet sand especially if you haven't really prepared for it) then fine but if you want to play the long game then DO NOT MEET WITH THEM and tell any enquirer you are not prepared to discuss "a private financial/business" meeting under any circumstances. You might also be a little contrite and say yes maybe I shouldn't have met in public but It needed to be done.
Any twinges of guilt can be suppressed by remembering you are playing the theocratic warfare game back at them.

a family member who is a bethelite informed me today that there is a letter to be read soon ( this week or next) concerning the downsizing.
so probably someone who has their midweek meeting early in the week will be able to fill in the details.

In your first post where you have typed the content you have missed out the important paragraph at the top of page 2.
It is there in your later post in the PDF on PAGE 2 which does contains the important bit about reducing the bethel families and how "heartwarming" their response has been!
