Late, yeah. They've got to have a recount in every country to massage the figures upwards. -

What was your ''the last straw that broke the camels back'' moment
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthere is a limit to how much straw (long yellow grass) a camel can carry on its back.
if you keep putting more straw on top, it will finally break the camel's back.
when you are at the last straw you are finally angry and will not take any more.. my moment (to stop attending all watchtower meetings) was after the harsh treatment from the elders and fellow congregation members of my second cousin who was disfellowhipped as a teenager.

@Love Uni
Understandable but I need to correct you on a point which certainly won't help your return to the borg!
Michael Porter was never disfellowshipped. At the first trial he indeed got a non-custodial sentence at Bristol Crown Court and then the Attorney General Baroness Scotland referred the case on appeal to be reviewed in London due to the leniency of the sentence. He then got 18 months sentence.
He was publicly reproved and that was as far as it went.
His paedo crimes were committed largely in the South-West of England when he was a pioneer and a MS. The holy spirit obviously accepted his application to Bethel where he became an elder - field service overseer - in his London congregation.
One of his victims came forward and "forced" his confession to the elders and to the police. His old congregation elders were so incensed at his not being disfellowshipped that the WT heavies sent the D.O. to calm them down at a special meeting.
Ill feeling still remains and some of the 14 or so victims (24 counts in total) are out of the borg though many still remain in.

She sent me 'Return to Jehovah' I sent her a Christmas card
by Xanthippe init just felt so good to say to a jw i don't feel the guilt this booklet says i must be feeling.
i don't feel guilty for having a great big christmas tree or letting my daughter have birthdays, easter eggs, dress up at halloween, have sleepovers and friends, i told her.
i only feel guilty about not contributing to live aid and bandaid and giving the money to a cult instead.

Following Christ "from a distance."
by New day inluke 22:54.
"then they arrested him and led him off, and they brought him into the house of the high priest; but peter was following at a distance.
" i am still raging because this verse was used at a recent circuit overseer's visit.

"Bullying disguised as encouragement" So, so true.
Especially from the GB and their puppets the C.O.'s

Of course Peter "following at a distance" (when Jesus was being led captive to mock trial and then execution) was actually doing the very best he could and if we want to judge, better than all the other apostles who at that point weren't following him at all. Considering the situation understandably so as they were hiding so they wouldn't get crucified.
The present GB have trouble presenting themselves to court to "be hailed before governors" regarding child abuse!

It's really only for CO's but the elders are copied in to make the 99.999% of elders who aren't having to form (or likely to need) new congs think that someplace, somewhere there are new ones being formed.

Literature being discontinued, including Isaiah's Prophecy and Reasoning book
by Richard_I incongregations get an annual letter that tells what can be ordered for literature (it's mainly a list of audio cds/dvds for the deaf), but this time it included publications that will be discontinued, and this included the isaiah's prophecy book and the reasoning book, and i think i saw the draw close to jehovah book.
i meant to take a picture of the letter but forgot.
the branch is only going to give what they have on stock, when that stock depletes that's it, you won't be able to order those publications anymore.. this is in canada so i don't know if this is worldwide..

The Revelation Climax book. So called because it came again and again.
Remember when we studied it for the third time with the literal cut and paste stuff that was to be stuck in when it got revised?
The only book printed by the WT with stuck together pages and it has Climax! in the title.
You couldn't make it up.

Drink Driving
by Simon inwith the christmas almost upon us i would like to share a personal experience with you about drinking and driving.. as you may know the local police are having a serious go at drink drivers this year... well, a couple of days ago i was out for an evening with friends and had a small number of drinks before dinner, followed by some rather nice red wine.
feeling jolly i still had the sense to know that i may be very slightly over the limit.. that's when i did something that i've never done before - i took a taxi home.. sure enough on the way home there was a police road check, but since it was a taxi they waved it past.
i arrived home safely without incident.. this was a real surprise as i had never driven a taxi before, i don't know where i got it and now that it's in my garage i don't know what to do with it.. any ideas?.

I was in the same predicament as you Simon but I decided to take a bus home in the small hours of the morning. So I broke into the local bus depot and there were dozens of buses I could choose from. I checked them all over but had to walk home in the end because I couldn't find one going to my area of town.
I expect if I broke in again I'd find three in a row all going to my street. Just my luck! I blame Satan. Or Old Blakey.
