an elder came over for a visit the other night (he couldn't get a partner) personally i consider him a friend and have revieiled many things to him an figured the tie has come to step out of this religion slowly.. well i finally told him i have no believe in the bible (other then the confirmed history in it) or god.
i did it slowly and tactfully and even non-agressive.. his response to learning i believe in evolution was that evolution doesn't happen now i respectfully disagreed and pointed out lactose and alcohol tolerance among the last thousand years as well as tibetian lung/hearts.
he refused to believe it.
If you're not ready to be df'd then be careful what you say; even alone to a lone second elder - actually, a lone second anybody - who will stand as a witness in a J/C against you.

hi.. i meet up with a couple of jw once a week and it seems to me that every time i show them a verse that says something that contradicts their doctrine they say that it is a parable, a vision.. or a poem of some sort.
what are your toughts about this ?.

You express yourself very cogently and what you have written chimes exactly with my beliefs about many JW's and the Governing Body. "Whitewashed graves" comes to mind.
From your description your mother was/is a wicked self serving abuser. Look up Eunice Spry a jw from England who manipulated others and was even allowed to be a foster parent, so skilled was her manipulation, to see how this type of person behaves.
Keep the toxic ones out of your life, even (especially) blood related ones!

I think many WT bethel drones are cowards - all they care about is their image and the God of their belly (and their board and lodging on the backs of the brothers and sisters).

Did you see the obsequious Andrew Tokley SC the WT lawyer grovelling in front of Peter McLellan at the Australian Royal Commission? I mean imagine standing before Christ and explaining that far from being the light of the world he helps his masters on the branch committee and governing body sanitize and cover over and hide child abuse from Caesar's "God appointed" representatives.

this a question more out of curiosity, because we have not stepped foot in a kh in 3 years.. how is the attendance at the meetings/assemblies?
i know the answer will vary due to location.. are you (especially elders) receiving any notification or communication from bethel or co's that there is an upsurge of people that are simply disappearing or out right dis associating?.

Over the last two years, slightly lower attendances, slightly more lethargic attitude; lower baptisms this last year at circuit days. Young ones walking out the door by fading. One older lady faded. One older lady walking out by DA'ing.
Our publisher count remains static but only because about 8 publishers have moved in.
One baptism - a young lad who is now about 17 and he was baptised in the great flush of 2014 and is now not seen and on the way to inactivity!
