My Lawyers Letter To The Elders
by pale.emperor infor those of you that asked, below is a copy of my solicitors letter to the elders in my old congregation.
he sent a similar one directly to bethel and a medical directive to my daughters gp to go on her medical records that i have already given permission for her to have a blood transfusion should she need one:.

Errr ... your solicitor has written "and" instead of "any" in paragraph 6 line two ... damn spellcheck doesn't pick up alternative but real words!
Unbaptised kids don't have Advance Medical Directives. They have "Identity Cards" expressing the parents' wishes. Your lawyer hasn't specifically said your daughter mustn't have one. Cover those loopholes!

Got my JC cancelled... (at least for now)
by Sanchy inso my wife and i have been in the process of fading for a few months now as per my original post here.
about a week ago, i was browsing some ex-jw facebook groups when i saw a post that linked to the crisis of conscience book.
i said "f@(k it" and hit share on it.. a few hours later, i get a long text letter from my mom (who was a fb friend of mine) telling me the typical "good luck finding friends in the world" and how we have "nothing in common anymore"; basically, it was a 'farewell' text.

Don't meet with them. If they contact you say you consider yourself admonished. That's it. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Do not say another word to them.
If you meet with them and fail to lie through your teeth to them and post anything that can be construed as apostasy - anywhere, anytime - you are toast.
If despite the above you feel compelled to meet to limit damage then be prepared to grovel and suck it up and lie as though your life depended upon it..

Experience You'll Never Hear at The Conventions: I write Porn Part Time and Pioneer!
by MTSman ini’m a pioneer in city of brotherly love.
(yeah i said my city.
don’t give a fuck) most pioneers who need extra money, get a part gig working as a security guard, barista, or making sandwiches for a few bucks an hour.
-
freddo
Hang on, 30 to 50 bucks a day. A day!!!???
You laugh at menial jobs yet you could make $30 to $50 an hour washing some windows - and you crow about 30 - 50 bucks a day?
Degree in English Literature (at an Ivy League University) + writing pornographic short stories + self righteous girlfriend + pioneering = I don't buy it.
Oh yeah - besides "Quit" for "Quite" - it's "compliment" not "complement" towards the end of paragraph one. With several other grammatical and spelling errors too.
Teacher says "Must try harder,"

The borg is fighting tooth and nail to not turn over sex abuse records, and the press is taking note :)

Anyone know how, if and when the UK Charity Commision will "go in"? (As in start investigating our dear brothers and guardians of doctrine up in London Bethel?)

using the online version as the starting point...... strike-thru for words removed from online to print.

Just seen this thread. Thanks darkspilver.
Good comparison. The essence of the article is still there. You can only print so much compared with on line. The printed version is a good condensed version for the space allowed.

Ponderings of a Worldly Person
by Nevuela in35-year-old female in california here.
never a jw, but have had bible studies and attended several meetings and even a convention once.
i've always been agnostic with leanings toward the belief in some deity or other, although the more i learned from the jw's, the more i've learned to doubt, not just their teachings, but the fundamental teachings of all religions.

If you are still in the organization, do you enjoy the meetings ?
by Iamallcool inrate it from 1 to 10. thanks!

Rate it from 1 to 10. Thanks!
Public Talks: Usually a 1, may be a 2 if it finishes five or more minutes early. I give it a 10 on those rare occasions when the speaker doesn't turn up!
Watchtower: 0 - 1.
CLAM: Invariably a zero. Just one long (oh so looooonng!) mash of three meetings in one.

Ancient Irael, Jehovah and the GB (has anyone considered this before?)
by LoveUniHateExams ini was just thinking about the wts and child abuse crimes/accusations.. in ancient israel, jehovah used the surrounding nations to punish israel for its wickedness.. seeing as the wts always likes to draw comparison between ancient israel and today, what about today?
could a witness argue that god is currently using 'worldly' courts to punish jw sex abusers and the wts?.
has anyone posted this before?

I went through a phase of this somewhere between being concerned about all the wrongs in JW land and how Jehovah allowed it all - and finally realising that JW land is a fantasy.
Probably believed it plausible for about two years and trotted it out occasionally to those closest to me as a possible antidote to my doubts.
