  My Thanksgiving Tradition As One of Jehovah's Witnesses

  the jw prohibition of celebrating holidays includes the american celebration of thanksgiving, a sort of innocuous harvest festival, where thanks is given for the year's blessings.

  a typical family eats a large meal together, including turkey and all the trimmings.

  in recent decades, nfl football, always involving the dallas cowboys and detroit lions, has become part of the routine, as well as drinking beer.. every year or so, the "awake!

  Yup! UK here so not Thanksgiving but Xmas/New Year time.

  When myself as an elder (then) and two other male relatives as elders would descend upon the great JW Matriarch (My Aunt Doris) with our pioneer wives and our families often including a bethelite or two between Xmas and New Year to have what we jokingly called the "Not Xmas/Not New Year Party" at Auntie's/Mum's/Gran's house.

  No tree or paper hats of course but charades and games and TV and booze and good food was had by all.

  Yes there is.

  Separation. (Legal non scriptural divorce may be taken too)

  Wilful non-support (financially)

  Extreme physical abuse

  Absolute endangerment of one's spirituality.

  It is up to the individual to decide if his/her situation fits and take action. They will likely get pressure from busy bodies/including elders.

  But it is up to them.

  The problem is those that are abused by a dominant spouse find it difficult to think straight and get support to make a stand.

  thier talk at this summers district conventions about shunning faders was a bit unclear and many said it was pointing out that only jws were to shun wrongdoers not specifically faders.

  this new broadcast makes it now obvious that those who leave the meetings have left jehovah so therefore they are to be shunned as a form of discipline.

  there can be no mistake that they do not want any of thier cult members associating with faders or those that have left the cult.

  OK ... Go to JWbroadcasting. Loesch introduces the November one with some drone helper.

  At about 19.00 a clip is introduced. At about 20.30 you see a Portuguese? Kingdom Hall and the mother narrating says "Our son Levi was no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses" (meaning DF'd or DA'd) and around this point she and hubby hold hands as Elder 1 steps aside from the podium and Elder 2 announces "no longer a jw" in the background language (Portuguese?).

  At about 24.00 Gabrielle tells us it's been 5 years now but he has "not returned to Jehovah". So of course she pioneers regularly.

  how many witnesses are aware that technically, according to watchtower policy, they can if they wish too...associate with dissociated and disfellowshipped relatives.

  for all those who are dissociated or disfellowshipped, please share this with your relatives who are currently shunning you.

  there is nothing the elders can do as long as they are not discussing spiritual matters.

  Yebbut they have their little catch all of "brazen conduct" and "causing divisions" to layer on top when they make their decision and are then called upon to justify it.

  As in it may not be a JC offence of itself but it is causing divisions in the congregation and they are being brazen about it.

  The CO will back them to the hilt saying he will not overrule what is a question of judgement.

  Help with fading, please...

  i just left about six months ago and i'm going through the emotional whirlwind that comes with it.

  i would really appreciate some advice on how to keep this fade from turning into my being disfellowshipped.

  I think scratchme's advice would be good before you've done what you've done. But not now - returning to the vomit you have left behind now will increase your anxiety levels and put you in the path of the lunatic pioneer sister once again. Run Forrest Run! Pour your feelings out to those who know the score in your family and on here.

  I was an elder for over 25 years. I've done scores of judicial and appeal committees and had different pathetic titles over the years including PO/WT/Secretary. You cannot be DFD for telling an elder to leave you alone. However strongly. You cannot be DFD for taking out a restraining order. Do you need a restraining order? Just shut the door on her and don't take her phone calls. Forever.

  Use this stupid sister and her stalking of you to your advantage. Ignore every attempt by any elder to engage you in conversation. Firmly tell them to leave you alone.

  USE REVERSE THEOCRATIC WARFARE.

  When JW hierarchy are dragged in front of courts (like the ARC investigation into their disgusting child abuse record) they lie like a rug and in their literature equate such behaviour with Rahab and the spies and hiding printing presses from the Nazis.

  Learn to lie to them without feeling guilty. Rahab protected the spies AND HER FAMILY. You are protecting your sanity and your family relationships from the mind controlled cultists that will throw you under the locomotive in their service not to God but to the GB and its Golden Calf jwdotborg!
