@Nicolaou
Such a good thread - bumped for a newer "overlapping generation" (which of course wasn't about when this thread was started!).
i had no doubts at all about the 'truth' untill a friend of mine in the cong' began falling away.
in trying to help him i had to ask questions and do research and that of course cracked the doors of my mind open for the first time in over thirty years.. years ago, when jwd allowed members to have signatures, i used the following quote from voltaire as mine.
i still love it.. doubt is uncomfortable, certainty is ridiculous..

hi folks,.
i have a difficult dilemma.
since i'm not pioneering any more, i'm reducing my hours wasted at that artifact known as cart or trolley.
@skepsis
By the way, in my country there are congos allowing appointed men with bears and others that don't accept it. It all depends on the desires of the BoE.
With bears??? Well, I suppose the farther a congo is from New York the more the local customs get through ...
we all 'exit' in our own way and at our own pace but i'm curious, why carry on stuffing yourself into that stiff suit and tie or meeting dress years after you realised the truth about 'the truth'?.
they kept you a prisoner, what's stopping you from leaving now that you have the key to your own cell?.
loved ones?
Cowardice.
hey folks.
i have been looking for the latest on shunning of those who have drifted.
i recall the 2016 convention had a part, and i believe there was a video.
I certainly heard it at an elders school about ten/fifteen years back. That is - if an elder doesn't believe the end is close then he doesn't qualify.
There were no instructions as to hunting such ones down but it was read from the outline.
and it is ... why do most at the hall prefer to sit at the back and leave front rows empty?.
@tor1500
Yup. When I lost my "privileges" (AKA had them taken away from me - bwahahahaha) the only thing that bothered me about not running a microphone or being an assistant to the assistant hall attendant was that I would have to sit in my seat for an hour and three quarters.
We used to have a system (our hall was in a high vandalism area) where someone would sit outside in a car in the car park for 30 mins at a time with a loudspeaker fed from the meeting. Unfortunately there was no off switch so I took a pair of scissors and cut one of the wires (only 12 volts) and repaired it with insulation tape. So when the meetings got on my nerves I would disconnect the wire as soon as I got out there and reconnect it at the end of my shift.
Sadly a CCTV system was set up and so we had to watch the TV screen from inside the hall.
Edited to add: When I cut the wire I was serving as an elder - goes to show the cog. diss. going on in my head.
i was in a good mood yesterday (makes a bloody change, i hear you say).
i was meeting an old buddy for a meal.
he was never a jobo.
In the UK "Jobos" is used.
judge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.
@Landy
It can also imprison them for six months if they don't appear.
This thread was worth coming to if only for this from DJS:
"Created so many rules, near rules, mini-me rules, almost rules, semi-rules, and if it walks, talks and acts like a rule it's a fucking rule rules with one intention:"
Brilliant.
As for Scooby/Scotty Rex he probably feels a bit useless and bitter. A little cog in the machine that can do nothing. Couldn't improve jw's and can't improve the NHS despite trying his best. At least in the UK people want the NHS to succeed.
Come on Scooby, don't be afraid - it's only the museum curator in disguise.
my wife found this 1/4 page ad on page 2 of yesterday's nj star-ledger, probably the biggest newspaper in nj.
pretty telling.. .
Richard Oliver doesn't appear to be wired right. Let him be.
i stumbled across jwtalk.com recently and i wasn't able to read many things posted there because i wasn't a member.
so, i decided to join (it's free).
i am not interested in re-becoming a jw.
How about a post like this:
"I was in the ministry last Saturday morning and a concerned gentleman showed me this advert (link to ambulance chasing lawyer "were you abused by jw's?" advert) - I of course told him that it was probably put there by apostates but I prayed about it and now believe I could have answered it better - any ideas?
I want to make a return visit and make an answer in accord with 1 Peter 3 v 15."
