I can't take much credit.
About two months ago I googled "what to say to friend diagnosed with cancer" and similar to that came up somewhere. She seemed to appreciate the sentiment and so it seems appropriate.
a friend of mine (a jw) delivered a premature baby, and the outlook is grim.. she is posting updates on facebook, and where everyone else is offering prayers for them both, and how "jehovah loves them both very much", and i got...nothing.
nothing that would be comforting.
big man in the sky has zero to do with this, only medical science and chance will have any bearing on this.i wish i could lie convincingly to her and to myself and have something nice to say.

i grew up a jw kid until the age of twelve.
since then i have lived a worldly life.
i have enjoyed alot of my life experiences, but i now feel like i am lost.
Funny old world bulldogg - welcome by the way; I was just about getting baptised when you were born and wish I hadn't. I've been an auxiliary pioneer, MS, Elder for over 25 years and the JW religion left me frustrated, angry and saddened.
I'm coming through it now and finding spirituality without the charlatans in New York and their self-preserving mistakes, errors and deliberate lies.
Best wishes on your journey.
my girlfriend and i were walking along a seaside boulevard and lo and behold!
2 jws were standing by the pathway.
they made eye contact and said hello.

"They don't have to do anything, The cart is doing it ..."
It certainly does!

I was visiting (with a JW family member so I behaved - sort of) a different country last weekend and in a city by one of the Metro stations was a cart with literature in (a European language) and English.
The young couple had good understandable English and I introduced myself as a "brother" and asked if they were "having a successful day."
"Oh yes!" said the young brother.
I smilingly said "Oh, good! Have you started any bible studies?"
"No, no." He said a bit sheepishly. "No bible studies."
"So, how has it been successful?" I asked, all innocently.
"We place literature. Look."
And he showed me a little slip in a foreign language which looked like "video showings" "return visits" "placements" "bible studies" and such like.
There was a number 3 in one column and a number 1 in another and a 1 in yet another. It meant 3 placements of literature and 1 showing of a video and 1 RV. I asked if it was for their shift or for the whole day. "From 8 until now." I was informed.
It was about 3 pm and the spot had had pairs of witnesses on it from 8 in the morning and the 3 placements and the 1 showing an the RV weren't for the last 2 hour shift but for the whole day up until 3pm!
So there we were in dry weather in a busy square by cafes and restaurants and shops and bus stops and tram stops and a metro station in a busy metropolitan city with lots of tourists on a Saturday afternoon and they had placed three friggin' pieces of literature and had one video showing and one RV and that counted as a successful day!
Jesus wept, what a complete and utter waste of time - 7 hours and 4 pairs of witnesses for that. I could have done that in twenty minutes on my magazine route back in the day.
just wanted to thank everyone so much for all your responses to my first post.
i am overwhelmed by all the replies and supportive comments that came through overnight while i was asleep here in aussie land!.
i will absolutely endeavour to reply to each one individually but it will take some time as there are a lot to go through.

Well the fact they had a local needs on it is a sign it rattled their cage somewhat.
And if anyone seeing the ARC thought that O'Brien and Toole and co gave a great defense then I've got a bridge they can buy off me cash up front.

"Thank goodness we live in a place/country where highly skilled and good hearted doctors and nurses will use all the resources available to do everything they can for your baby (use name). I really am rooting for you guys and fervently hope that she/he pulls through."

Next week's article contains the following "experience" to encourage us:
...................................................................................................................
"I didn't let my illness stop my ministry!!!" says Sister Irone Lungg
Sister Lungg was a top level dancer* who suffered life changing injuries as a young woman. "The most important thing to me wasn't worrying about being in an iron lung for the next sixty years but how I was going to continue my ministry, what with the end being so close and all."
And of course back then in 1955 Iron Lungs weren't as comfy as nowadays so when my pioneer partner wheeled me from door to door and kept the pressure up with a set of foot bellows I could feel every jolt from the cobblestone pavements.
But everyone listened intently! I cannot imagine why! If you had someone on a gurney in a big metal tube turn up on your doorstep would you have listened? Probably not so it must have been due to Jehovah's intervention on my behalf!
Nowadays I have the Mk 3 Iron Lung which is so much easier as it has rubber wheels and suspension so I can stay out in the ministry longer! How I thank Jehovah for how he has blessed me and now that soon, very soon* I will leap like the Hart and dance like the Gazelle on Hebron's dewy slopes in paradise!"
When we consider Sister Lungg's experience doesn't it make us even more determined to give of our utmost in Jehovah's service - whether that is our ministry or our donations or building a new headquarters in War-Wick?
*Some facts have been changed.

has anyone else heard of these situations with congregations and halls in your area?
i thought the ground breaking mandatory pledge a little while ago was to keep up with "immense" growth?
how soon they forget... looks really bleak for the future of the wbats, the jw gravy train seems to be coming to a slow and agonizing yet inevitable stop.
Happening in the UK too. In 2015/2016 within 30 miles of me I know of two congregations disbanded and a Kingdom Hall sold.

I can't get too worked up about this WT study. It's the same old same old do more now and put off your own life for a panda petting paradise one.
(With a bit of "if you feel bad it must be cuz you are a guilt ridden wreck but Jeeeeehooooovaaaaah loves you sooooooo - much so get up those hills outside Jerusalem before the Romans turn up again to slaughter you.)
I'm also saddened the spina bifida suffering lady didn't cross crocodile-infested waters with her wheelchair strapped into a dug out canoe though.
These "do more" examples must be getting soft.
she could have bought an ice cream cone .

I remember when couples who had weddings in the kingdom hall - for a time in the UK in the 1980's and 1990's could choose "suitable music" like passages of Vivaldi's four seasons for their wedding music.
Then of course Teddy J. and his crew put a stop to that and since then it has been only "Kingdumb MAL-adies" allowed.
