I saw it and thought it very good. The only criticism I would make is that it wasn't "busy" enough in as the beaches seemed almost empty, the Royal Navy ships too small in number (two or three when in reality there was about 40) and not nearly enough aeroplanes.
I understand this was made without CGI to add hordes of men and machines but with 300,000 on the beaches the place should have been much busier and a Luftwaffe that in truth threw all they could at it and which had over a 1000 serviceable planes to be reduced to a pair of Me109's, one Heinkel bomber and three Stukas seemed implausible as did three RAF Spitfires which seemed to take an age to take out the everlasting Heinkel.

From NWT ...
Elder qualifications ...
(1 Timothy 3:1, 7) 3 This statement is trustworthy: If a man is reaching out to be an overseer, he is desirous of a fine work. ...
7 Moreover, he should also have a "fine testimony from outsiders" so that he does not fall into reproach and a snare of the Devil.
Looks like a dozen or more elders don't qualify according to my reading of the bible ...

"Akid"
I wish I knew what happened at death. I don't - despite being an ex elder and having been a jw pretty much all my life from young childhood. But I no longer trust the jw explanation of earth for some and heaven for a few and death at "Armageddon" for billions.
If you are to see your parents again - and if I am to see my dead loved ones again I do not believe it is dependent upon a religion/cult that for nearly 140 years has got every prophecy wrong, only had an earthly hope on offer for the last 80 years or so and can't predict when Armageddon is coming if at all. (See Luke 21 v 8)

If your parents died when you were five then you may well get a lot of "don't you want to see your parents in the resurrection?" type of stuff.
The resurrection "hope" "brought in" a lot of adults, let alone a youngster.
Have you thought about how you will deal with that kind of emotional manipulation? (Which is what I now believe it is)
Not an easy time for you especially if you are only 13.

The "slave's" dogma depicts Satan as being more powerful than Jehovah!

Agreed "Londo" - it's strange that Satan who is merely a "bad angel" should be so feared by God's angelic forces - especially when they have just been able to boot him and his angels out of heaven in 1914. Or is it now circa. 1914?

Hi "The Fall Guy".
I get completely what you are saying about why would God's heavenly organisation be fearful of Satan the babysnatcher?
Good thought provoking post.

I read the BBC news website as a news item (I guess to promote the show) and thought it rather poorly researched and somewhat inaccurate.
However, having watched the programme I think it is excellent, showing sensible honest decent folk; not bitter rabid apostates. (though certainly very sad at the deluded actions of their jw family and friends at the behest of Tomo and co.)
Very good indeed. The emails read by Victoria Derbyshire afterwards largely gave support to what was being said.
I believe it will ensure less people get caught up in the stupidity and delusion of jw-ism.
BRAVO!

Do You Ever Think Of ALL The Wasted Time Because You Were a JW?
by minimus inthe longer you are out the more you see how a cult steals all your time, resources and energy.

A little.
But I truly see no point in looking back with regret even though I am in my mid fifties and made some unwise financial decisions (mostly inaction toward retirement planning rather than stupid moves with any spare money) which over the last five to ten years I have slowly tried to rectify.
I love the extra time that being a "name only" semi-active jw allows me to enjoy.
I especially love shrugging my shoulders and smiling at elders who try - less and less now - to get me to reconsider "reaching out" to what I "once was". (To them a busy elder - to me a busy fool.)
I also have a little group of like minded "brothers" around the circuit that I can vent with and socialise with even to the extent of laughing with each other about Stephen Lett, winking at the CO's "spin" on meeting attendance and ministry, shaking our heads at the mental cases that have become a significant number in our kingdom halls and rolling our eyes at Regional Convention crappery!
